To connect Meta Muse to Vanguard: add your Vanguard accounts to Truthifi, ask Muse to connect to Truthifi, then approve it on Truthifi's page. That's one link and one request. Once connected, Muse can report what your funds hold and what your accounts are charged, though it can't buy, sell or swap anything.

Held a few broad funds for years? You probably have two questions that are easy to ask and slow to answer by hand: how much of your money lands in each company once your funds are counted, and what are you actually paying to hold them? Muse can answer both from your own holdings, on a plan that covers them, since Truthifi hands you the numbers and leaves the decisions to you.

Our recommendation: start on a free plan, run the balances check in step 5, and upgrade only when the exposure or fee question is the one you actually want answered.

  1. Create a Truthifi account. Every current consumer plan supports your own AI assistant. Keep the login to yourself: Muse connects to whichever Truthifi account signs in.

  2. Add your Vanguard accounts on Truthifi's page. You link your Vanguard accounts on that page, never in a chat window.

  3. Ask Muse to connect to Truthifi. Send Muse "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." In Truthifi's test, Muse found the server from that sentence alone. If it comes up empty, add the address: "…using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

  4. Authorize on Truthifi's page. When a Truthifi sign-in appears, enter your details only on Truthifi's own page, never in Muse. The Authorize screen lists what the assistant can read: accounts, balances, holdings, fees, performance and spending by category. It also spells out the two kinds of change it allows: adding or removing holdings you track yourself, and running the portfolio scans that refresh your data. Read it, then click Authorize yourself.

  5. Check the link. Ask "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" and look for your Vanguard accounts in the reply. If nothing comes back, repeat step 3 with the server address included.

What you'll need to connect Meta Muse to your Vanguard account

You'll need four things. Muse is rolling out in the United States and is still in limited testing. Two of Truthifi's plans are free to start: Free Checkup and Connect Explore.

  1. Muse, where available (US rollout). You can reach Muse on iOS, Android or muse.ai. According to Meta's subscription help, there's a free tier with a usage limit, and the Power and Maximum plans add more weekly usage.

  2. A Truthifi account. You can connect your own AI assistant on any current consumer plan, including the free ones. Start free (limits apply).

  3. Vanguard linked in Truthifi. Per Truthifi platform data, Truthifi links with 18,000+ financial institutions through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts. See your bank or broker's connection status at truthifi.com/connections before you link it. Vanguard has its own status page.

  4. Your own login. One Truthifi login per person. Don't share logins, even with family members or colleagues at your firm.

Before you start

The connection works on any plan, but the most interesting fund questions don't. Single-stock exposure, market-cap mix, performance and Truthifi Score history need Connect Pro or higher (see the table below). Fee analysis needs Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+. Most questions cost 1 credit and a dated holdings lookup costs 2. Automatic daily refreshes are free, and an on-demand refresh uses 3 credits.

As of October 2026:

Plan

AI assistant credits (day / month)

Fund questions it covers

Free Checkup, Connect Explore

5 / 25

Balances, holdings, composition, transactions, fund reference details, distributions

Connect Pro

20 / 75

Adds single-stock exposure, market-cap mix, performance and Score history

Monitoring

25 / 150

Connect Pro questions plus fees

Connect Max

75 / 400

Connect Pro questions plus fees

Monitoring Plus+

75 / 500

Connect Pro questions plus fees

Some questions cost nothing, such as asking Muse which plan you're on and how many credits are left. Credits reset daily and monthly, and every assistant you connect shares one allowance.

The free plans carry 25 credits a month, according to Truthifi's published plan details (2026). Spending 3 of them on a manual refresh uses 12% of that month, and a dated holdings lookup at 2 credits uses 8%. Since daily refreshes cost nothing, a buy-and-hold Vanguard investor can usually skip manual refreshes and keep credits for questions.

Using a different assistant with the same Vanguard accounts? See the ChatGPT and Claude guides for Vanguard, or the Muse guides for Fidelity, Schwab, Merrill and Bank of America.

How to connect Meta Muse to your Vanguard account

The connection has two links. The first runs from Vanguard to Truthifi through Truthifi's connection partners. The second runs from Truthifi to Muse through Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp. Muse gets your Truthifi data only after you sign in on Truthifi's page and click Authorize.

Step 1: Create a Truthifi account

Muse connects to whichever Truthifi account signs in, so keep the login to yourself.

Step 2: Add your Vanguard accounts on Truthifi's page

Do this in Truthifi, never in a chat window.

Step 3: Ask Muse to connect to Truthifi

Send Muse "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." In Truthifi's test, Muse found the server from that sentence alone. If it comes up empty, add the address: "…using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

Step 4: Authorize on Truthifi's page

When a Truthifi sign-in appears, enter your details only on Truthifi's own page, never in Muse. The Authorize screen lists what the assistant can read: accounts, balances, holdings, fees, performance and spending by category. It also spells out the two kinds of change it allows: adding or removing holdings you track yourself, and running the portfolio scans that refresh your data. Read it, then click Authorize yourself.

Step 5: Check the link

Ask "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" and look for your Vanguard accounts in the reply. If nothing comes back, repeat step 3 with the server address included.

Example Meta Muse portfolio prompts

Ask Muse what is, not what to do: the best questions ask for a figure or a list you could read like a statement. The eight below each begin with "Using Truthifi"; three run on any current consumer plan, four need Connect Pro or higher, or Monitoring (see the plans above), and one needs a plan with fee analysis.

Company exposure across funds

"Using Truthifi, what's my total exposure to each company, counting what I hold through my Vanguard funds?"

We add direct holdings and fund holdings together to get that number; seeing your single-stock exposure through equity concentrations takes Connect Pro or higher, or Monitoring. Several broad index funds can look diversified one fund at a time while the same large companies appear in each; the combined figure shows how much rides on any single name.

Fees by account and type

"Using Truthifi, what fees am I charged on each Vanguard account, broken out by type?"

This takes one of the fee-analysis plans listed above.

Reference details for each fund

"Using Truthifi, give me the reference details for each fund I hold at Vanguard."

Truthifi returns reference details for securities, on any plan.

Country breakdown

"Using Truthifi, what share of my portfolio sits in each country?"

Composition comes back as the top ten entries for the dimension you ask about, so even a fund spread across dozens of countries gives a short answer.

Company size mix

"Using Truthifi, how is my money spread across large, mid and small companies, for stocks and funds separately?"

That breakdown needs a paid plan too (see the plans above).

ETF distributions

"Using Truthifi, list the distributions each of my Vanguard ETFs paid over the past year."

Dividend and capital-gain history covers up to two years per request.

Returns against a benchmark

"Using Truthifi, how did my investments do this year against a benchmark?"

You'll need Connect Pro or Monitoring to ask it.

Truthifi Score over time

"Using Truthifi, what changed in my Truthifi score over the last six months?"

The same plan requirement applies.

Why Truthifi?

Checking fund overlap and fees by hand, statement by statement, gets old fast. Connect Muse instead, and the numbers you'd otherwise dig for sit in one cleaned view of your linked Vanguard accounts: single-stock exposure counted through your funds, and fees broken out by type on plans that include them.

Security

Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. You sign in to Vanguard through Truthifi's connection partner (Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts), and Truthifi never sees or stores your bank username or password. Muse gets a sign-in token instead, which you can revoke any time under Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke. Is it safe to connect your accounts? explains how the connection partners fit in.

Access limits

At your bank and broker, Truthifi's access is read-only. Through Truthifi, your assistant can't move money, place a trade or change anything at your bank or broker. Three Truthifi tools do change data inside Truthifi: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and refreshing your data on demand.

AI portfolio analysis, fund by fund

Truthifi checks your linked accounts for fees, concentration and other issues, and its single-stock view shows how much of your money is in each company once your funds are counted. That's the kind of AI portfolio analysis we support: a statement of what you own, split by asset class, sector, industry and country.

Data quality

The same ETF can sit in an IRA and in a taxable account and look like two separate holdings until we clean the data: labeling reinvested dividends correctly and matching the same security across accounts, so Muse works from consistent numbers. How far back your history goes depends on what Vanguard makes available.

About Vanguard

Vanguard offers mutual funds and ETFs alongside brokerage accounts, IRAs, 401(k) and 403(b) plans, and small-business retirement plans. It is headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and was founded in 1975, according to public sources gathered for Truthifi's connect guides. Confirm the details of your own accounts with Vanguard directly.

Before you link, review Vanguard's connection status on Truthifi. Vanguard's own website has the product details.

Frequently asked questions

Can Muse show how much of each company I own through my Vanguard funds?

Yes, on Connect Pro or higher, or Monitoring (see the plans above). Muse adds your direct holdings and your Vanguard fund holdings together, so a company held both directly and inside several index funds comes back as one combined exposure figure instead of several scattered ones.

Can Muse tell me what I pay to hold my Vanguard funds?

You can see the fees on each Vanguard account, broken out by type, if your Truthifi plan includes fee analysis: Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+. On Free Checkup, Connect Explore and Connect Pro, the fee tool isn't available to Muse, though balances and holdings still are.

Will Muse tell me which Vanguard fund to buy?

Not through Truthifi. We supply data about your own accounts for Muse to read. Truthifi is not an investment adviser and doesn't give investment, tax or legal advice. Every prompt on this page asks Muse for a fact about your Vanguard accounts, such as what a fund holds or what an account is charged.

Can a Meta Muse Vanguard connection sell or swap funds?

No. A Meta Muse Vanguard connection can't sell or swap funds: Truthifi's access to your Vanguard accounts is read-only, so Muse can't move money or change anything at Vanguard through Truthifi either. Three Truthifi tools do change data inside Truthifi itself: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and refreshing your data on demand.

I rarely check my accounts. Will the Muse connection lapse?

Expect to sign in again if enough time has passed. If you haven't used Truthifi in your assistant for about four weeks, the Muse connection will ask you to sign in to Truthifi again, which is common if you only check your Vanguard funds a few times a year. Sign in only on Truthifi's own page, never in the Muse chat.

Do I need a paid plan to connect Meta Muse to Vanguard?

No, on either side. Connecting your own AI assistant works on every current consumer Truthifi plan, the free ones included, and Meta ties custom connectors to no paid Muse plan. Paid plans just change how much you can ask: Muse's add weekly usage, and Truthifi's unlock fund questions like single-stock exposure and fees.

Do I enter my Vanguard password in Muse?

No. You link bank and brokerage accounts on Truthifi's page, not in the chat, and Truthifi never asks for your bank password in your assistant, so don't type it there. Muse gets a sign-in token from Truthifi, which you can revoke at any time.

Which accounts can Muse see after I connect?

All of them, unless you say otherwise. By default, your AI assistant can see every account you've linked in Truthifi, Vanguard included. To narrow that for Muse, go to Settings → Sharing in Truthifi, select the assistant and choose the accounts it may read.

Where does my Vanguard data go when Muse reads it?

It goes to Meta, under Meta's terms: when you connect an AI assistant, that AI company receives the data Truthifi's tools return. What happens to the chat after that is up to Muse and your settings there. Meta says Muse keeps conversations away from its ad systems and lets you opt out of training use.

How do I remove Muse's access later?

In Truthifi, go to Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke and confirm. That cuts Muse off from your Vanguard data even if Muse still lists Truthifi. Meta's help points to Settings → Connectors for disconnecting in Muse. If you see the same assistant more than once under Connections → Agents, revoke each one.

What happens to my Vanguard data in Muse after I revoke access?

Revoking stops Muse from getting new data from Truthifi, but it doesn't delete what Muse already received. Meta says information Muse already used may stay in its memories and conversation history, and you can ask Muse to forget those interactions. To remove that, delete the chats in Muse; what Meta keeps after that depends on its own terms.

What is Truthifi?

Truthifi brings your linked accounts into one view and checks them for fees, concentration and other issues. It has two memberships, Truthifi Monitoring and Truthifi Connect, and either one lets your own AI assistant, Muse included, read the accounts you link. No commissions, no ads, and no advice on what to do with what you own.
