If you want an AI assistant that can reason about Alpha Vantage market data, the honest answer today is: there's no official Alpha Vantage MCP server to connect it to directly. Alpha Vantage is a market-data source, not an account you hold money in, and it isn't a provider Truthifi aggregates. What Truthifi does instead is read the real bank, brokerage, and card accounts you connect, so your AI can reason about your actual positions and cash, not just the prices and indicators Alpha Vantage publishes. The two layers are complementary: Alpha Vantage supplies market data, Truthifi supplies your real holdings.

What Alpha Vantage does

Alpha Vantage is a market-data provider. It supplies stock, forex, and crypto price data, technical indicators, and fundamental data feeds that developers and traders plug into charts, trading tools, and research applications. It is not a brokerage or bank, and it does not hold customer funds or positions. There is no "Alpha Vantage account" in the sense of a balance, holding, or transaction history tied to your money. It is a data feed, not a place where your assets live.

Does Alpha Vantage have an MCP server or API?

As of this writing, there is no official Alpha Vantage MCP server. If you're hoping to point an MCP-compatible AI assistant at an official Alpha Vantage connector, that option does not currently exist. This can change, and if Alpha Vantage publishes an official MCP server, this page will be updated to reflect it.

Setting up what IS possible today

  1. Identify what you actually want your AI to see. Decide whether you want market context (prices, indicators) or your own financial picture (what you hold, what it's worth, what it costs you). These are different problems with different tools.

  2. For your real accounts, connect Truthifi. Link the bank and brokerage accounts you actually hold through Truthifi's aggregation layer. This is the account data an AI assistant can act on: your balances, your holdings, your transactions.

  3. Authorize read-only access. When you connect an AI assistant to Truthifi, you'll see an Authorize screen. Confirm the connection there to grant read-only access, scoped to bank and brokerage accounts.

  4. Link your AI assistant to Truthifi over MCP. Once your accounts are linked, Truthifi's MCP layer lets a connected AI assistant query your real financial data.

  5. Ask your AI assistant questions grounded in your real accounts, not in generic market data alone.

  6. Revoke access anytime from Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke if you want to disconnect your AI assistant from your accounts.

What you can ask

An Alpha Vantage user typically wants an AI that can talk intelligently about the market and about their own money. Without an account layer, that AI can tell you a stock's price history or a technical indicator reading. With Truthifi connected, you can ask things like:

  • "What's my actual exposure to this sector across all my accounts?"

  • "How has my portfolio's value changed this month, not just this one stock's price?"

  • "What am I actually holding right now, across every account I have?"

  • "Which of my positions have the most concentration risk?"

These are questions about your real holdings, not the broader market, and they require an AI assistant that can see your accounts, not just price feeds.

With & Without Truthifi

Without Truthifi: An AI assistant pulling from Alpha Vantage-style market data can discuss prices, trends, and indicators in the abstract. It has no visibility into what you personally hold, what you paid, or how a market move actually affects your money. It can tell you the market is down. It cannot tell you what that means for your portfolio.

With Truthifi: The same AI assistant, connected through Truthifi, can see your real balances and holdings across the bank and brokerage accounts you've linked. It can combine market awareness with your actual positions and answer questions about your real financial picture, not a generic one.

How Truthifi can help

Truthifi doesn't connect to Alpha Vantage directly, and it doesn't need to. Alpha Vantage isn't an account Truthifi aggregates, it's a data source describing the broader market. Truthifi's role is the account layer underneath: it reads the bank, brokerage, and card accounts you actually hold, keeps that data current, and makes it available to your connected AI assistant through MCP. If you want an AI that understands both the market context Alpha Vantage-style data provides and your own real financial position, Truthifi supplies the second half of that picture, grounded in accounts you actually hold. Truthifi is not an investment adviser and doesn't give investment, tax or legal advice.

FAQ

Does Alpha Vantage have an official MCP server? Not as of this writing. There is no official Alpha Vantage MCP server for AI assistants to connect to directly.

Can my AI assistant see my Alpha Vantage data through Truthifi? Truthifi doesn't aggregate Alpha Vantage, since it's a market-data feed rather than an account you hold. Truthifi instead gives your AI assistant read-only access to the bank and brokerage accounts you actually hold.

Is Alpha Vantage a brokerage or a bank? No. Alpha Vantage is a market-data vendor. It supplies price and indicator data; it does not hold your money or positions.

What's the difference between market data and my account data? Market data describes prices, trends, and indicators across the broader market. Your account data is what you personally hold: your balances, positions, and transactions. An AI assistant needs both to give useful answers about your actual finances, and Truthifi supplies the account half.

Will this page be updated if Alpha Vantage releases an official MCP server? Yes. This page reflects the current state as of this writing and will be revised if that changes.
