On Webull, a single ticker can show up as shares, as an options contract, and again inside an ETF. That makes the AI question for Webull users specific: can an assistant like Meta Muse, Claude, or ChatGPT read your actual Webull positions, or only what you paste into a chat? The answer comes down to the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, the standard AI agents use to reach outside data. Below: what the Webull API does and doesn't do, why it isn't a Webull MCP server, and the read-only route to connect Webull to AI assistants next to your other accounts.
Short answer: Webull hasn't published an official Webull MCP server as of this writing (2026). To connect Webull to AI assistants today, you link the account through an aggregator to a service that already runs an MCP server, such as Truthifi, and add its connector URL to your assistant.
What is Webull?
Webull is a commission-free trading app and brokerage, operated in the US by Webull Financial LLC. It lets users trade stocks, ETFs, options, and other instruments, and has built a following among active retail traders who want fast order entry, charting tools, and a mobile-first experience. Its developer-facing option is the Webull OpenAPI, which is what most people mean when they search for the Webull API. It exposes account and market data, but it's built for developers who will write, host, and maintain their own code, not for a trader who simply wants to point a chat assistant at an account.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to outside tools and data sources in a structured, consistent way. Instead of an AI model guessing at information or requiring a developer to hand-build a custom integration for every data source, MCP gives the assistant a standard way to ask for data (a bank balance, a brokerage position, a transaction history) and get a structured answer back. For a Webull trader, that means an assistant can ask for your open positions and get back a structured list of tickers and quantities, instead of you pasting a screenshot of the app and hoping it reads the numbers correctly.
For MCP to work with a specific provider, that provider (or a service standing in for it) needs to run an MCP server the AI assistant can call.
Does Webull have an official MCP server?
As of this writing (2026), Webull has not published an official Webull MCP server. What Webull does offer is the Webull OpenAPI, a developer API for programmatic access to account and market data. That is a different thing from an MCP server. OpenAPI access requires a developer to build and maintain a custom integration, while MCP is a standardized interface any MCP-capable assistant can call out of the box.
If you've searched for Model Context Protocol Webull support, that gap is why you mostly find developer docs rather than a ready-made connector. One less obvious cost of the do-it-yourself route: if you wrapped the OpenAPI in your own MCP server, you would also be the one holding and securing the credentials it needs. If Webull publishes an official MCP server in the future, that would let developers integrate directly; today, the practical path to MCP access for your Webull accounts runs through a service that already speaks MCP, like Truthifi.
How Truthifi complements Webull
Truthifi doesn't replace Webull. You still trade, place orders, and manage positions in Webull itself. What Truthifi adds is the connective layer: it links to your Webull account (and your other bank, brokerage, and crypto accounts) through established data aggregators, and exposes that data to any MCP-capable AI assistant through a single, standard connection.
That matters because most people's financial picture isn't contained in one app. You might trade on Webull, bank somewhere else, and hold a 401(k) or crypto elsewhere still. An AI assistant that can only see Webull is working from a partial picture. Truthifi's job is to give your AI assistant read-only visibility across the accounts you link, Webull included, so it can reason about your whole financial picture rather than one account in isolation.
This is where a Webull-only view can mislead an active trader. Say you own shares of a large-cap stock in Webull, you've written or bought options on it there too, and the same company is a top holding in the index fund inside your 401(k). Webull's position screen shows the shares and the contracts, but it has no view of the fund slice, so your real exposure is larger than the app suggests. An assistant generally needs both accounts in view to spot that overlap.
Truthifi's access to bank and brokerage accounts, including Webull, is read-only. The AI assistant can see balances, holdings, and transaction history; it cannot place trades, move money, or change anything in your Webull account. The only things an AI assistant can change are inside Truthifi itself: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and triggering an on-demand refresh.
According to Truthifi's own coverage figures as of this writing (2026), Truthifi connects to 18,000+ financial institutions through its aggregator partners Plaid, Yodlee, and Morningstar ByAllAccounts. Treat that as a self-reported count of institutions reachable through those partners, not ones Truthifi has integrated itself. The practical check is simpler: search for Webull during linking and confirm it appears. That reach comes from those partners: Truthifi does not aggregate every provider directly, and for brokerages like Webull it links through these established aggregators rather than a proprietary integration. That is part of how it can offer broad coverage without every provider needing to build its own MCP server first. Truthifi platform data also puts the assets it monitors at $6B+, a self-reported figure that speaks to the service's scale rather than to anything about your Webull account.
Security and privacy
Your Webull login credentials don't pass through Truthifi. You enter them with the aggregator (Plaid, Yodlee, or ByAllAccounts) during the linking process; Truthifi doesn't receive, see, or store your username or password.
Security here is structural rather than a guarantee: access is read-only, credentials stay with the aggregator, and you can cut off an agent at any time through Connections → Agents → Revoke.
How to connect your Webull account to an AI assistant with Truthifi
Truthifi has two plan families. Monitoring is Truthifi's membership: its Free Checkup tier costs nothing, and paid Monitoring plans unlock fee breakdowns, benchmarks, concentration and exposure detail, and full AI/MCP access depth. Truthifi Connect is Truthifi's agent-access product, and its free tier, called Explore, also supports a connected MCP agent. For a first Webull connection, either free tier will do. Pick Free Checkup if you also want Truthifi's own portfolio checks, or Explore if you mainly want your assistant connected. A paid Monitoring plan only matters once you want the deeper fee, benchmark, and exposure detail.
Create a free Truthifi account. No credit card is required to get started.
Link your Webull account, along with any other bank, brokerage, or crypto accounts you want your AI assistant to see, through Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts.
Turn on MCP access in Truthifi. MCP access is free on every current consumer plan, including the Free Checkup tier of the Monitoring membership.
Add the connector URL to your AI assistant's tool or connector settings:
https://api.truthifi.com/mcp.Ask your AI assistant about your accounts. With the connection live, it can pull balances, holdings, and transaction data across everything you've linked, Webull included, and reason about it alongside the rest of your financial picture.
What you can ask once connected
Truthifi states that it runs 130+ automated diagnostics across connected accounts, according to Truthifi platform data, covering things like fee detection, concentration and exposure, and portfolio-level diagnostics. For a Webull trader, the concentration and exposure checks are the ones that land closest to home: they show how much of your linked total rides on the handful of tickers you trade most. Fee detection matters more for the funds you hold elsewhere; our guide to hidden investment fees explains what it looks for.
In a Webull AI assistant setup, questions that span accounts are the most useful, for example:
"What share of my total portfolio sits in my Webull account?"
"Which of my Webull positions also show up inside funds I hold elsewhere?"
"Where am I most concentrated once all my linked accounts are counted?"
If the first question is the one you care about most, our walkthrough on tracking your investments in one place covers how a combined net-worth view is built.
One note for active Webull traders: automatic refreshes run daily, with on-demand refreshes at 3 credits. That makes the connection better suited to portfolio-level questions than to the intraday calls you make from Webull's live charts and order tickets.
FAQs
Does Webull have its own MCP server? Not as of this writing (2026). Webull offers the Webull OpenAPI for developers, which is a programmatic API rather than a standardized MCP interface. Connecting your Webull account to an MCP-capable AI assistant today works through a service like Truthifi that already runs an MCP server and links to Webull via an account aggregator.
Is connecting my Webull account to Truthifi read-only? Yes, for your bank and brokerage accounts, including Webull. Truthifi can see balances, holdings, and transactions, but it cannot place trades or move money. The only changes an AI assistant can make through Truthifi are adding or deleting manually tracked assets and triggering an on-demand refresh.
Does Truthifi see my Webull password? No. You enter your Webull credentials directly with the aggregator, Plaid, Yodlee, or ByAllAccounts, during linking. Truthifi doesn't receive, see, or store your login credentials.
Is MCP access free? Yes. MCP access is available on every current Truthifi consumer plan, including the Free Checkup tier.
Can I disconnect Webull from Truthifi later? Yes. You can revoke access at any time through Connections → Agents → Revoke.
What does an on-demand refresh cost? An on-demand refresh costs 3 credits. Automatic daily refreshes are free.
Does Truthifi give investment advice? No. Truthifi is not an investment adviser and doesn't give investment, tax or legal advice.
The bigger picture
Webull doesn't currently publish its own MCP server, but that doesn't have to be a dead end if you want an AI assistant that understands your trading account.
It's also worth planning past today's gap. If Webull does ship an official MCP server, it would most likely see Webull and nothing else. A Truthifi connection would still be the piece that tells your assistant what your Webull trades mean next to your 401(k), your bank cash, and your crypto. Our read: the brokerage-native server answers "what do I hold here?", and the cross-account layer answers "what does it add up to?" Most traders will end up wanting both.
