Connect Meta Muse to Bank of America: banking and credit cards

To connect Meta Muse to Bank of America, link your account on Truthifi's page, connect Muse to Truthifi, then ask Muse where this month's money went. That single setup answers what came in, what went out, and which charges keep showing up, straight from your own checking and card transactions.
Meta Muse, which Meta describes as its personal AI agent in its announcement (2026), can't read your Bank of America transactions by itself. Truthifi builds the bridge: once your accounts are linked, Muse reads them through Truthifi whenever you ask, so your Meta Muse personal finance questions about cash flow get answered from your own records. That's the real difference from an AI budgeting app. A budgeting app sorts what already happened into categories; this setup lets you interrogate your own transaction history on demand, with Muse staying the assistant and Truthifi supplying the bank data.
The short version: link the bank in Truthifi, ask Muse to connect, approve it on Truthifi's Authorize screen, then ask where the money went.
At a glance | For a Bank of America checking-and-card setup |
|---|---|
Where your bank sign-in goes | The connection partner's screen (Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts), not Muse |
What Muse can do at the bank | Read only: no bill payments, transfers or trades |
Cost of a typical question | 1 credit per call for most tools |
Cost of a refresh | Daily automatic refreshes cost nothing; an on-demand refresh uses 3 credits |
Free plan allowance (October 2026) | 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month |
Watch out for | Card payments from checking can appear twice in a "what went out" total |
Our sources: Truthifi's own test of its connection with Muse, plus Meta's announcement and help pages for every Muse detail.
Open a Truthifi account. Any current consumer plan works here. A free plan covers the bank questions in this guide, since free plans can read balances and transactions.
Link Bank of America on Truthifi's page. Check Bank of America's status at truthifi.com/connections, then link your accounts on Truthifi's page, not in the chat. Bank and broker sign-ins go through our connection partner (Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts), never through Truthifi or your AI assistant. Truthifi doesn't see or store your bank username or password.
Ask Muse to connect to Truthifi. Send this request to Muse: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." As Meta's Connectors help describes, Muse sets up a custom connector from that request; the exact screens Muse shows at this point may vary. If it can't find Truthifi, send the request again with the server address added: "...using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."
Approve Muse on Truthifi's own screen. When Truthifi's sign-in appears, use only Truthifi's own sign-in page and keep your Truthifi password out of the Muse chat. When the Authorize screen appears, it lists what the assistant can read, including balances, transactions and spending by category. It also lists two kinds of change inside Truthifi: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and refreshing your data on demand. Click Authorize, or Cancel if you'd rather stop.
Check a balance. Ask a first question: "Using Truthifi, what's the current balance in each of my Bank of America accounts?" A reply that lists your accounts means the connection is in place. If an account is missing, any total that should include it comes up short. Fix that before relying on the numbers.
What you'll need to connect Meta Muse to your Bank of America account
Four things go into this setup: Muse, a Truthifi plan (the free ones work), Bank of America linked in Truthifi, and a login that's only yours.
Muse, where available (US rollout). Muse runs on iOS, Android and muse.ai as it rolls out in the United States, according to Meta's announcement (2026). Muse is free up to a usage limit, and paid plans add more usage, according to Meta's subscriptions help; those limits may change, so check that page for current terms.
A Truthifi plan. Every current Truthifi consumer plan includes MCP access, including the free ones. Start free (limits apply).
Bank of America linked in Truthifi. Truthifi connects to your accounts through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts. Check status at truthifi.com/connections first, starting with Bank of America's status page.
A login that is only yours. One Truthifi login per person. Never share a login, even inside a family or firm.
Before you start
Two small decisions make the first week easier. The first is which accounts to link. Start with the checking account and the card you use most, not everything at once: answers about two accounts are easy to check against your own statements, and answers about ten are not. That's the Truthifi Team's suggested first setup, widening the scope once the answers hold up. If you already reconcile your accounts each month, linking more at the outset is reasonable; the narrow start mainly helps if you're new to checking an assistant's answers.
The second is how far your credits go. Free plans include 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month, according to Truthifi's pricing page as of October 2026; limits can change, so check that page for current numbers. Most tools, including a balance check or a spending-by-category question, cost 1 credit per call. An on-demand refresh uses 3 credits, so ordinary spending and balance questions use the least.
If nothing is linked yet, ask Muse to "connect a new account with Truthifi". This "connect account" request returns a link to Truthifi's page for connecting a new bank or brokerage account. It changes nothing by itself and costs no credits.
How to connect Meta Muse to your bank account at Bank of America
You link Bank of America on Truthifi's page and approve Muse on Truthifi's Authorize screen, so in Muse you only need a plain request. If Truthifi isn't in your built-in Connector list, Muse can add it as a custom connector when you ask, according to Meta's Connectors help. That's the route this guide uses.
Step 1: Open a Truthifi account
Any current consumer plan works. A free plan covers the bank questions in this guide, since free plans can read balances and transactions.
Step 2: Link Bank of America on Truthifi's page
Check Bank of America's status at truthifi.com/connections, then link your accounts on Truthifi's page, not in the chat. Bank and broker sign-ins go through our connection partner (Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts), never through Truthifi or your AI assistant. Truthifi doesn't see or store your bank username or password.
Step 3: Ask Muse to connect to Truthifi
Send this request to Muse: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." As Meta's Connectors help describes, Muse sets up a custom connector from that request; the exact screens may vary. If it can't find Truthifi, send the request again with the server address added: "...using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."
Step 4: Approve Muse on Truthifi's own screen
When Truthifi's sign-in appears, use only Truthifi's own sign-in page and keep your Truthifi password out of the Muse chat. The Authorize screen lists what the assistant can read, including balances, transactions and spending by category. It also lists two kinds of change inside Truthifi: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and refreshing your data on demand. Click Authorize, or Cancel if you'd rather stop.
Step 5: Check a balance
Ask a first question: "Using Truthifi, what's the current balance in each of my Bank of America accounts?" A reply that lists your accounts means the connection is in place. If an account is missing, any total that should include it comes up short, so fix that before relying on the numbers.
If you haven't used Truthifi in your assistant for about four weeks, sign in to Truthifi again. If you need to reconnect for another reason, remove Truthifi in your assistant, revoke it under Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke, then add it again and click Authorize.
Example prompts for Meta Muse
These example prompts for Meta Muse cover where your money came from, where it went and what keeps coming back; together they make a simple monthly Meta Muse budget check for your Bank of America accounts. Begin each one with "Using Truthifi" so Muse uses your linked accounts; note that some tools and more usage require a paid plan.
Where the money went
Truthifi shows spending and income by period and by category, and individual transactions as well as summaries. Comparing two consecutive months shows where a change came from, which the overall total hides.
"Using Truthifi, what came in and what went out of my Bank of America checking account each month this quarter, by category?"
"Using Truthifi, which spending categories went up between last month and the month before?"
"Using Truthifi, show my Bank of America card transactions over $100 from the last 30 days."
"Using Truthifi, separate last month's payments to my Bank of America credit card from purchases on it."
What keeps coming back
Repeat charges are easy to forget once they're on a card, and income is sorted by category the same way spending is, which makes both good monthly questions.
"Using Truthifi, list the charges that repeat every month on my Bank of America credit card."
"Using Truthifi, what was my total income each month over the last six months?"
Balances and connection health
Opening and closing balances over a date range show the month-to-month movement without opening each statement. Run the connection check before you lean on any of the other answers.
"Using Truthifi, what were the opening and closing balances of my Bank of America checking account each month this year?"
"Using Truthifi, which of my linked accounts have stopped updating?"
Why Truthifi?
For a Bank of America checking-and-card setup, Truthifi's part comes down to four things. Your Bank of America sign-in stays with the connection partner, and your AI assistant gets a sign-in token from Truthifi, never your password. The bank's link status is visible before you rely on it. Muse gets read-only access. And your checking and card history arrives as one consistent set of numbers.
Security
Because your bank login goes on the connection partner's screen, Truthifi never sees or stores it. Truthifi's tools return your data to Muse, and the AI company behind Muse handles that data under its own terms. For more on how linking works, see Is it safe to connect your accounts?
Coverage
Truthifi connects to 18,000+ financial institutions through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts, according to Truthifi platform data; the live list is at truthifi.com/connections. Once linked, your accounts sit in one Truthifi view that's checked for fees, concentration and other issues.
Control
At your bank and broker, Truthifi's access is read-only. Muse can look, but it can't move money, place trades or change anything in those accounts. Inside Truthifi, a few tools do change data: they add or delete assets you track by hand, or refresh your data on demand.
Data quality
Truthifi builds your Bank of America history from the transactions the bank makes available, so how far back it goes depends on Bank of America. From there, the data is cleaned and organized so your assistant works from consistent numbers.

About Bank of America
For Muse cash-flow questions, the Bank of America accounts that matter most are the everyday ones: checking accounts, credit cards and loans. The bank is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and it's also the parent company of Merrill (bankofamerica.com). The details here come from public sources and describe the bank, not how Truthifi connects to it.
Beyond banking, cards and loans, its account types include Merrill investing (Merrill Edge self-directed accounts, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and the Merrill Advisory Center), employer-sponsored retirement accounts and stock options, health savings accounts and the Private Bank. Its mobile banking app for iPhone, iPad and Android includes balance checks, statements, bill pay and account alerts.
If you use both Merrill and Bank of America, look up each one's status at truthifi.com/connections before you link it. With both linked, Muse can answer about cash and investments together, and the Meta Muse Merrill guide covers the investing side.
Your accounts feed Truthifi, Truthifi answers Muse, and you can cut either link from your own settings. One detail matters when your checking and card sit at the same bank: paying your Bank of America card from Bank of America checking can show up twice, once as money leaving checking and again as a payment arriving on the card. Ask Muse to keep card payments separate from card purchases, or a combined "what went out" total can look larger than what you actually spent.
Frequently asked questions
How do I connect Meta Muse to my Bank of America account?
To connect Meta Muse to Bank of America, check its connection status at truthifi.com/connections, then link your accounts on Truthifi's page rather than in the chat. Next, ask Muse to connect to your Truthifi account, sign in, and click Authorize. Finish with a balance question to confirm your Bank of America accounts came through correctly.
What can a Meta Muse Bank of America connection answer?
A Meta Muse Bank of America connection answers cash-flow questions about your own accounts: spending and income by category, repeat charges on your card, how your checking balance moved month to month, and individual transactions. It reports what happened in your accounts and doesn't tell you what to change.
Can Muse pay a Bank of America bill or move money for me?
No. Muse can read your Bank of America data through Truthifi, but it can't act at your bank: bill payments, transfers and trades stay with you. The only changes Truthifi's tools make are inside Truthifi itself, to assets you track by hand and to refreshing your data on demand, as described under Control, above.
Where do I enter my Bank of America sign-in details?
Your Bank of America sign-in details go on the connection partner's screen when you link the bank, never in Muse. Truthifi never sees or stores your bank username or password, and it never asks for your bank password inside your assistant, so don't type it there, even if asked.
How often does my Bank of America data update?
Once a day, automatically and at no cost, whenever the connection to the bank is working. Refreshing on demand uses 3 credits. A refresh won't run while the bank's data connection is down.
Which Meta Muse personal finance questions work on a free plan?
The Meta Muse personal finance questions on this page are written to work on a free plan, within its credit limits, since free plans include MCP access and can read balances and transactions. According to Truthifi's pricing page, as of October 2026, free plans include 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month, and most tools cost 1 credit per call.
What goes into a monthly Meta Muse budget check?
A monthly Meta Muse budget check for your Bank of America accounts covers three questions: spending by category for the month, the charges that repeat on your card, and income by month. Run them at the start of each month, or ask Muse to do it as a recurring goal, since each run uses Truthifi credits.
Is this an AI budgeting app?
No, this isn't an AI budgeting app. Muse stays your assistant and Truthifi supplies the bank data it reads, so nothing replaces your bank's own app. The answers are facts about your own transactions and balances, such as spending by category or recurring charges, with no budgeting advice attached.
Can Muse see only my Bank of America accounts?
Which connected accounts an assistant can see is chosen inside Truthifi, under Settings → Sharing, not account-by-account in Muse. By default, per Truthifi's sharing settings, a newly connected assistant can see the accounts you've linked in Truthifi. To limit it, go to Settings → Sharing, select the assistant and pick only your Bank of America accounts.
What if Bank of America shows a connection issue?
Check truthifi.com/connections for its status before you link, and again if answers look out of date. During an outage at the service that connects the bank, a refresh can't run and Truthifi returns an error instead of new data, so try again once the status clears.
How do I disconnect Meta Muse from Truthifi?
To disconnect Meta Muse from Truthifi, go to Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke, and if the same assistant appears more than once, revoke each one. In Muse, according to Meta's help, you disconnect a connector under Settings → Connectors. If you don't see Truthifi there, revoking in Truthifi is enough to stop new data from reaching the assistant.
What happens to my chat after I disconnect?
That depends on Muse and your settings there. Information Muse already used may remain in its memories and your conversation history, and you can ask Muse to forget it. Revoking stops your assistant getting new data from Truthifi, but it doesn't delete what the assistant already received.
