Your AI assistant can only work with the accounts it can see. Connect Capital One, plus the rest of your accounts, and it starts reasoning from your actual numbers instead of numbers it has to guess at. No code, about three minutes. Get started with Truthifi

If you've ever looked at a Venture X miles balance and wondered what it's really worth next to your savings and investments, you're not alone. The answer is scattered across card statements, a travel portal, and accounts at institutions Capital One has no view into. Bring them together and your AI can see the whole picture.

  1. Start with a free Truthifi account. Sign up at truthifi.com, where the free tier needs no credit card.

  2. Link your accounts. Connect your Capital One cards and savings, plus brokerage and retirement accounts at other institutions, via Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts. Credentials never pass through Truthifi.

  3. Turn on MCP access. Connecting your own AI assistant via MCP works on every current consumer plan, including free ones.

  4. Add Truthifi to your assistant. Add a custom connector with URL https://api.truthifi.com/mcp in your AI assistant's connector settings, and authorize.

  5. Turn it on and ask. Toggle Truthifi on and ask: What's my net worth across my connected accounts, and am I on track to retire?

What is an MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a secure, read-only link between your accounts and your AI assistant. You grant it, and you can revoke it whenever you want. Instead of copy-pasting numbers or uploading statements, the assistant reads live through a connection you control. It's an open protocol specification that Anthropic published and maintains (modelcontextprotocol.io), rather than a standard ratified by a formal standards body, and OpenAI and others have since adopted it. A "Capital One MCP" is a connector that feeds your Capital One data to your AI this way.

Does Capital One have an MCP server?

As of October 6, 2026, no official Capital One MCP server exists, according to our review of Capital One's DevExchange developer portal and GitHub that day.1 A handful of community-built repositories have appeared:

  • hashwnath/capitalone-mcp-server: wraps Capital One's public DevExchange sandbox (the Nessie API), which is a developer testing environment, not your live consumer banking data. Requires an API key from the Nessie sandbox.

  • 10aParikh/capital-one-mcp: a community repo with no description and no verified functionality listed. Check its repo page directly before relying on it, as you would for any unverified open-source project.

  • stanley17112000/getcurrentoffer-mcp: a remote MCP for credit card merchant offers across multiple issuers including Capital One. Its scope is limited to offers data only, via OAuth 2.1 or API key.

Two things apply to all of them:

  • They're built for developers. They involve API keys, sandbox credentials, or config files, and none we reviewed connects to your live Capital One consumer accounts.

  • Even if one worked against live data, it would cover Capital One accounts only. Your brokerage, retirement accounts, and other cards would still live in separate logins.

Truthifi takes a different route: no code, your live accounts, and every institution you link in one read-only view.

What Capital One does

Capital One was founded in 1994 by Richard Fairbank and Nigel Morris and is headquartered in McLean, Virginia. Based on its recent SEC filings and company reporting, it ranks among the top 10 U.S. banks by assets, a ranking that can shift quarter to quarter.1 It trades on the NYSE under COF. Its main products:

  • Credit cards: Venture, Venture X, Quicksilver, Savor, and secured/credit-building cards, ranging from no annual fee up to $395/year for Venture X.

  • Checking and savings: 360 Checking and 360 Performance Savings, both fee-free with no minimums.

  • Auto financing: direct lending and the Auto Navigator tool for pre-qualification and car shopping.

  • CreditWise: a free credit score and monitoring tool open to anyone, not just Capital One customers.

  • Business banking: small business and commercial credit cards and lending products.

  • Capital One Shopping: a browser extension for automated coupon and price comparison.

  • Capital One Travel: a booking portal for flights, hotels, and car rentals with rewards redemption.

  • Capital One Mobile: account management, check deposit, and payments.

  • Capital One Cafés: physical hybrid bank-branch/café locations in select cities.

  • DevExchange: a developer portal with the public Nessie sandbox API for fintech developers.

Good to know about Capital One

  • What does it cost? Most checking and savings accounts carry no monthly maintenance fee and no minimums. Credit card annual fees range from $0 up to $395/year: the Venture card carries a $95 fee and the Venture X card sits at $395/year. Auto financing rates vary by creditworthiness.

  • How do I track my rewards value? The Capital One Mobile app and the Travel portal show your miles balance. Translating miles into per-mile cash value, and comparing that against straight cash back, requires math across your full card portfolio that the app doesn't do for you.

  • What about CreditWise? It's free for anyone and provides credit score tracking and monitoring; it's separate from your account management.

  • Is my data fresh? For your Capital One accounts, yes: the Capital One Mobile app reflects them directly. Balances at other banks, retirement accounts, and brokerage holdings can be connected so you see them in one place instead of across separate logins.

  • What about my investments? Capital One doesn't offer brokerage or retirement accounts directly. If you hold a Venture X card and a 360 Savings account at Capital One but invest at Fidelity, Schwab, or Vanguard, those live in separate systems, and seeing them together is where your AI adds the most value.

Capital One API: getting your Capital One data for AI

Does Capital One have an API? Yes. Capital One DevExchange (developer.capitalone.com) offers a public sandbox API (Nessie) for developers, but it is a developer API. Connecting Capital One through Truthifi gives your AI assistant read-only, programmatic access to your Capital One account data over MCP (the Model Context Protocol), making it the practical "Capital One API" for AI, with no code and no official Capital One API required. Your assistant can query balances, holdings, and transactions across Capital One and every other connected account in one view. For how the connector itself works, see Truthifi MCP. How Truthifi can help

Truthifi links your real accounts to your AI assistant, giving it one view of your whole financial picture. Coverage spans 18,000+ institutions, decoded into clean, consistent data alongside your Capital One accounts. The source is independent, with no commissions, no ads and no advice involved. As it processes that data, Truthifi's Refinery corrects and reconciles what it reads. According to Truthifi's State of Financial Data report, a first-party measurement, it ran more than 6 billion data-quality operations over the 90-day period the report covers. That's Truthifi's own count rather than an independent audit, so read it as a sign of scale, not as proof of accuracy. Once your accounts are connected, you can ask:

  • "Across everything I've connected, what's my net worth right now?"

  • "Based on my current trajectory, will I hit my retirement goal, and what's cutting into my returns?"

  • "Which of my investments cost the most in fees?"

  • "Where am I most concentrated, and is that a risk?"

Picture a household where Capital One holds the card and the savings, while the 401(k) sits at Fidelity and the taxable account at Schwab. The Capital One app shows the card balance and the savings rate. But "given my total rewards, my savings, and my investments, should I pay my rent with miles or cash, and am I actually on track to retire?" has meant opening three or four separate logins and doing the math by hand. Once those accounts are connected, a single question to the AI settles it. Bringing accounts from multiple institutions into one view can also surface what separate logins hide, such as a fund overlap between the 401(k) and the brokerage, or a fee compounding across accounts that doesn't show on any one statement.

The annual fee is a good example of a question that crosses institutions. Whether the $395 Venture X fee pays off isn't only a card question. The cash-back alternative is worth what that cash would otherwise earn, in 360 Performance Savings or in a brokerage account Capital One can't see. So the break-even depends on numbers held at two or more institutions, which is why the question rarely gets answered inside one app.

With your Capital One accounts and your investments both in front of your AI, the two work together. Real examples:

  • "My Venture X earns 2x miles on my everyday spending. Given my full balance sheet, is the $395 annual fee still worth it versus a no-fee cash-back card?"

  • "My 360 Performance Savings — given my full picture, how does its rate compare to my investment returns, and am I holding too much cash?"

  • "If I redirect $400 a month from discretionary spending to my brokerage, what does that do to my net worth in 10 and 20 years?"

Because Truthifi refreshes your data automatically once a day from your institutions, there's no manual updating. On scope: Truthifi covers investments, net worth, and cross-account data, while card rewards redemption and day-to-day account management stay in the Capital One app, which you keep using for what it does best.

You don't have to total up your Venture X rewards against your savings and investments by hand. A free scan hands you a decoded read on your connected accounts. The AI assistant you already use connects free on every plan, with data refreshed automatically once a day from the same corrected data. The paid Monitoring plan ($8.99/mo or $79.99/yr) adds the full diagnostic suite of 130+ automated diagnostics.

Is it safe to connect my accounts to Truthifi?

The safeguards around your Capital One data are structural, not just promises. No online connection is risk-free, but here's what's built into how this one works:

  • Read-only by architecture. Truthifi can't move money, place trades, or touch a setting in your Capital One account.

  • Credentials never pass through Truthifi. Your login gets encrypted right in your browser and goes directly to the aggregator (Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts), which hands back a read-only token.

  • Every request is logged. You get per-tool daily and monthly counts of what each AI assistant accessed, useful for your own oversight.

  • Data is protected with Bank-grade encryption in transit and at rest, and you manage access account by account, revoking it whenever you want from your assistant's connector settings or from inside Truthifi.

How to connect your accounts to your AI assistant

Connecting Capital One runs entirely in your browser, with no command line, on any MCP-capable assistant.

  • Start with a free Truthifi account at truthifi.com; the free tier needs no credit card.

  • Link your accounts: your Capital One cards and savings, plus brokerage and retirement accounts at other institutions, through Truthifi's Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts connection.

  • Turn on MCP access: connecting your accounts to a live AI assistant (MCP) works on every current consumer plan, including free ones; the full diagnostic suite is part of the paid Monitoring plan ($8.99/mo or $79.99/yr).

  • Add Truthifi to your assistant. The connector URL is the same for each assistant: https://api.truthifi.com/mcp. Open your assistant's connector settings (typically under Settings → Connectors), add Truthifi as a custom connector, paste in the URL, then authorize. (Most assistants require a paid plan for custom connectors. For your assistant's exact setup steps, check the connect guides linked below.)

  • Turn it on and ask: "What's my net worth across my connected accounts, and how does my savings rate look for retirement?"

What you can ask your AI

  • "What's my total net worth across everything I've connected today?"

  • "At my current savings rate, am I headed toward a comfortable retirement? Show me conservative, moderate, and optimistic scenarios."

  • "What's the true per-mile value I'm extracting from my Venture X card versus switching to a cash-back card?"

  • "Total up every investment fee I'm paying across my connected accounts this year, and show the 10-year cost at 7% growth."

  • "Where am I most concentrated, by holding, sector, and account, and is any of it a risk I didn't realize I was taking?"

  • "Stress-test my whole portfolio against a 2008-style drop: how far would I fall, and how long to recover?"

  • "I want to move $500 a month from savings into investing, show the effect on my net worth over 10 and 20 years."

  • "Find any overlapping holdings across my accounts that I didn't realize I had."

For financial advisors

Because Capital One doesn't offer brokerage or retirement accounts, a client's Capital One cash and card balances typically sit outside the custodian views you already run. If you're an RIA or financial advisor, it's the same idea pointed at your book: connect your clients' accounts, Capital One plus every other custodian and held-away account, and ask your AI assistant questions across the whole book, read-only. Truthifi can't trade, bill, or change a setting; it's a decoded, cross-custodian context layer that works alongside the systems you already run.

Where it helps most is with held-away assets: assets a client holds outside Capital One that don't show up in your primary view. Once everything's linked, your AI can handle questions at both the book and per-client level:

  • "Show held-away assets my clients hold outside Capital One that I'm not seeing in my primary view."

  • "Across everything linked, not just the accounts I manage, which clients are paying the most in total fees?"

  • "Flag allocation drift over 5% from target across all households this quarter."

  • "Right now, which households are sitting on more than $50k in idle cash across custodians?"

It's not a portfolio-management system, a CRM or a custodian, and it doesn't replace Capital One. See more connectors on the financial MCP servers hub.

Common questions about Capital One

Does Capital One have an MCP server? No official one as of October 6, 2026. Community repos exist: hashwnath/capitalone-mcp-server wraps Capital One's Nessie developer sandbox (not your live consumer accounts), and stanley17112000/getcurrentoffer-mcp covers merchant offers data across issuers. None that we reviewed connect to your live Capital One consumer banking. The no-code path that covers your full financial picture is Truthifi.

What do people say about Capital One? A friction point that comes up often in community forums is the fragmented setup: separate logins for cards, savings, and outside investments mean you rarely see a complete picture in one place. The Capital One app covers Capital One accounts; closing the gap for everything else is where connecting accounts helps.

Are there alternatives to Capital One? Other banks and card issuers exist. But if what you actually want is an AI that sees your whole financial life, Capital One accounts and everything else, switching banks won't get you there. That takes a connector like Truthifi sitting on top of the accounts you already hold.

Is Capital One Shopping safe to use? Capital One Shopping is a separate browser extension product. For questions about its data practices, Capital One's privacy policy and published third-party analyses are the relevant sources; those are questions about Capital One's product, not about the MCP connection to your AI.

Which AI assistants does Truthifi work with? Truthifi's MCP connector is built to work with MCP-capable AI assistants. MCP is an open protocol, and the list of assistants that support it keeps growing.

Do I need to write code to set up Truthifi? No. You can do the whole Truthifi setup in your browser, with no command line, API keys, or config files.

Truthifi and your accounts beyond Capital One

Capital One's reporting is clear on the accounts it holds. By design, that view covers one part of your financial life; the rest of your household, from held-away retirement accounts to a spouse's brokerage to accounts at other institutions, sits outside it. Truthifi works as the Universal, Transparent, Portable layer bringing your connected accounts together: one decoded, benchmarked picture across all your connected institutions, owned by you and ready for your AI. Capital One knows what you hold at Capital One; Truthifi shows what you hold at every institution you connect, and what it is costing you.

Keep going

The short version

Capital One's app shows Capital One accounts. To give your AI assistant your whole financial picture, Capital One cards, savings, rewards math, investments, and net worth all in one place, connect your accounts with Truthifi. It's free to start, takes about three minutes, and needs no code. One test worth running first: ask your AI how much of your 360 Performance Savings balance sits beyond what you'd need for emergencies, and how that idle cash compares with what your brokerage holdings have done.
