Your AI assistant can only work with what it can see, so this guide shows how to connect SoFi to your AI assistant with MCP, free and with no code. Linking SoFi alongside your other accounts cuts the guesswork: your connected bank, brokerage, loan and retirement accounts sit in one place your AI can reason about. Get started with Truthifi
SoFi puts borrowing, banking and investing under one login, which makes it easy to assume the app already sees your whole picture. Its Debt Summary and Investment Portfolio Summary stop at SoFi's edge, though. A 401(k) from work, a spouse's brokerage, or a mortgage held elsewhere sits behind a different login.
Create a free Truthifi account. Sign up at truthifi.com, no credit card for the free tier.
Link your accounts. Connect your SoFi accounts plus any outside brokerage, retirement, and bank accounts via Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts. Truthifi never sees or handles your login details.
Turn on MCP access. Connecting your own AI assistant via MCP works on every current consumer plan, including free ones.
Add Truthifi to your assistant. Add a custom connector with URL https://api.truthifi.com/mcp in your AI assistant's connector settings, and authorize.
Turn it on and ask. Toggle Truthifi on and ask: What's my net worth across my connected accounts, and am I on track to retire?
What is an MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a read-only link between your accounts and your AI assistant: you grant access, your assistant reads the data Truthifi has on hand, and you can revoke that access any time. Anthropic introduced this open standard, according to the MCP specification, and it has since been adopted by OpenAI and other assistants. A "SoFi MCP" would be a connector feeding your SoFi data to your assistant the same way. Here's how Truthifi's MCP server works.
Does SoFi have an MCP server?
No official SoFi MCP server exists as of October 8, 2026. We found none when we searched GitHub and SoFi's public developer pages for this guide (see note 1), and SoFi could change that. SoFi also doesn't offer a public consumer-facing API; business integrations are available only through SoFi At Work and select partner programs.1
Our GitHub search did turn up unofficial repositories using SoFi's name, but none we found appears maintained or endorsed by SoFi. We wouldn't hand any of them your SoFi login.
Our recommendation: if SoFi holds only part of your money, skip the unofficial code and use a read-only connector that covers SoFi and your outside accounts together. That's where Truthifi comes in.
What SoFi does
SoFi ("Social Finance") is a financial super-app and nationally chartered bank, SoFi Bank, N.A. According to SoFi's own site, it's built around giving members a single place to borrow, save, spend, invest, and protect.1 It's designed for:
Banking: FDIC-insured checking and high-yield savings accounts, with competitive APYs (higher on SoFi Plus).
Borrowing: student loan refinancing (including medical, law, MBA, parent PLUS, and SmartStart programs), personal loans, mortgages (purchase, refinance, cash-out, jumbo, FHA, VA, and HELOCs), and auto loan refinancing.
Investing: self-directed and robo investing, IRAs, fractional shares, ETFs, commission-free brokerage trades, and IPO access; crypto buying and selling.
Credit cards: Everyday Cash Rewards, Essential, and Unlimited 2% cards, none with annual fees on base tiers.
Financial insights: credit score monitoring, budgeting, property tracking, investment and debt summaries within the app.
Insurance and small business: auto, life, homeowners, and renters insurance (via partners); business line of credit, equipment financing, startup loans, and business checking.
About SoFi: founded in 2011 by Mike Cagney, Dan Macklin, James Finnigan, and Ian Brady · headquartered in San Francisco, CA · publicly traded (NASDAQ: SOFI) · operates SoFi Bank, N.A. (nationally chartered) · approximately 10.1 million members as of Q4 2024, according to SoFi's Q4 2024 results (2024), the latest member count we confirmed for this review; newer quarterly figures may differ, so check SoFi's most recent earnings release.1
Good to know about SoFi
Straight answers to the questions people ask most often:2
What does it cost? Core banking and investing are free. SoFi Plus (a monthly subscription, or free with qualifying direct deposit; the fee and threshold change, so check sofi.com) unlocks higher savings APYs, 0% processing fees on personal loans, financial planning sessions, and other perks. Brokerage trades are commission-free; credit cards have no annual fee on base tiers. Individual loans and mortgages carry standard interest rates. Confirm current pricing at sofi.com.
Does the high-yield savings rate change? Yes. SoFi's savings APY can change over time, and rate shifts may not come with prominent advance notice. Check the current rate at sofi.com before you make decisions based on it.
Does SoFi see my outside accounts? SoFi's own "Investment Portfolio Summary" and "Debt Summary" reflect what you hold at SoFi. If you also hold assets at Fidelity, Schwab, Chase or elsewhere, those summaries generally won't include them. Your true net worth, allocation and risk come into view once you bring those separate logins together, which is where an AI connector adds the most.
How do I manage my membership? Plan changes live in Account Settings on the SoFi app or sofi.com.
SoFi API: getting your SoFi data for AI
Does SoFi have an API? Not one that gives you programmatic access to your own account data. Connecting SoFi through Truthifi gives your AI assistant read-only, programmatic access to your SoFi account data over MCP (the Model Context Protocol). In practice, that's the "SoFi API" for AI, with no code and no official SoFi API required. Your assistant can query balances, holdings, and transactions across SoFi and your other connected accounts in one view. Connect your accounts to your AI →
How Truthifi can help
Truthifi links your real accounts, including SoFi, to your AI assistant in one view it can reason about. It decodes the accounts you connect across 18,000+ institutions into clean, structured data, as an independent source with no commissions, no ads, and no advice, so your AI works from numbers it can trust rather than guesses. Along the way, Truthifi's Refinery cleans up and reconciles what it reads. According to Truthifi's own State of Financial Data report, an internal first-party count that hasn't been independently audited, the Refinery logged roughly 6.0 billion data-quality operations in 90 days across 4,472 community households. The report tallies individual automated checks and corrections on account data rather than households or accounts, so the total climbs quickly. In other words, raw account feeds need correcting before they're reliable, and that work happens before a number reaches your AI. For a SoFi member, one login mixes deposit, loan, and brokerage accounts, and each type has to reconcile cleanly before a net-worth figure means anything. For your investment accounts, Truthifi runs 130+ portfolio-health checks and reconciles holdings with synthetic share accounting, so cash moving in or out doesn't distort your true performance. Once that link is set up, here's what you can ask:
"What's my current net worth across everything I've connected?"
"Am I on track to retire, and what's dragging on my returns?"
"Which of my investments cost the most in fees?"
"Where am I most concentrated, and is that a risk?"
Take someone who refinanced student loans with SoFi, earns SoFi Plus savings rates through direct deposit, and keeps a SoFi Invest portfolio, while their 401(k) sits at Fidelity. SoFi shows the SoFi side clearly, but "given all of it, can I retire comfortably?" usually means checking separate logins. Connect those accounts through Truthifi, and your AI answers it in a single conversation. The first time you link accounts across institutions, you may also catch something the separate logins kept hidden: two funds that turn out to hold mostly the same stocks, or an advisory fee that didn't stand out on a statement.
With your SoFi accounts and your outside investments in front of your AI at the same time, you can ask questions like:
"My SoFi savings rate dropped, is my overall financial position still on track, given what I hold at Fidelity and Schwab?"
"I'm paying down a SoFi personal loan and contributing to a 401(k). Which should I prioritize given my full net worth?"
"If I move $500 a month from my SoFi savings into investing, what does that do to my net worth over 10 and 20 years?"
For a SoFi member, the practical gain is that the refinanced loan balance, the SoFi savings rate, and the outside 401(k) land in one calculation. Net worth and retirement progress then count the debt side alongside the assets, without you pulling separate statements.
Two ways to start. Run a free portfolio-analysis scan to let Truthifi turn your connected accounts into a plain-language scorecard, or link them to the AI assistant you already use and ask in plain English. Connecting your own AI assistant works on every current consumer plan, including the free ones; paid Monitoring additionally unlocks fee breakdowns, benchmarks, and concentration/exposure analysis ($8.99/mo or $79.99/yr as of October 2026).
Is it safe to connect my accounts to Truthifi?
No online connection is entirely risk-free, but these protections are built into how the connection works (more on how Truthifi keeps your accounts secure):
Read-only by architecture. Truthifi can't move money, place trades or change a setting. That constraint lives in the connection itself, not just in a terms-of-service promise.
Credentials never pass through Truthifi. Your login is encrypted in your browser and passed straight to the aggregator (Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts), which returns a read-only token.
Every request logged. You get per-tool daily and monthly counts of what each AI assistant accessed, useful for your own oversight.
Data is protected with Bank-grade encryption in transit and at rest. Access is controlled per account, and you can revoke it whenever you like, in your assistant's connector settings or inside Truthifi under Connections → Agents → Revoke.
How to connect your accounts to your AI assistant
Connecting your accounts takes four steps: create a free Truthifi account, link your SoFi and outside accounts through Plaid, Yodlee, or Morningstar ByAllAccounts, turn on MCP access, and add Truthifi's connector URL to your AI assistant and authorize. Everything happens in your browser, with no command line involved, on MCP-capable assistants that support custom connectors.
First, create a free Truthifi account at truthifi.com, no credit card for the free tier.
Link your accounts: your SoFi checking, savings, investing, and loan accounts, plus any brokerage, retirement, or bank accounts at other institutions.
Turn on MCP access: connecting your accounts to a live AI assistant (MCP) works on every current consumer plan, including free ones; the full diagnostic suite is part of the paid Monitoring plan ($8.99/mo or $79.99/yr as of October 2026).
Add Truthifi to your assistant. One connector URL works across assistants: https://api.truthifi.com/mcp. In your assistant, go to its connector settings (typically under Settings → Connectors), add a custom connector called Truthifi, paste in the URL, and authorize. (Most assistants require a paid plan for custom connectors. Check the connect guides linked below for exact, step-by-step setup on your specific assistant.)
Once it's turned on, ask: "What's my net worth across my connected accounts, and am I on track to retire?"
What you can ask your AI
"What's my net worth across my connected accounts today, SoFi and everything else?"
"Does my current savings and investing rate put me on track for retirement? Model conservative, moderate, and optimistic cases."
"Total up the fund fees I'm paying across my connected accounts this year, and show the 10-year cost at 7% growth."
"Where am I most concentrated, by holding, sector, and account, and is any of it a risk?"
"I have a SoFi personal loan and investments at Schwab. Should I pay down the loan faster or invest more?"
"Stress-test my whole portfolio against a 2008-style drop: how far would I fall, and how long to recover?"
"Find any duplicate or overlapping holdings across my accounts that I didn't realize I had."
"If I refinance my student loan through SoFi, what does that do to my overall debt-to-net-worth picture?"

Common questions about SoFi
Is SoFi worth it? It depends on how much of your money already lives there. SoFi fits best if you're refinancing student loans and want checking, high-yield savings, and commission-free investing under one SoFi Bank, N.A. login. SoFi Plus perks hinge on qualifying direct deposit, so the math changes if your paycheck lands elsewhere. What SoFi can't tell you is how its piece fits with accounts at other institutions; if you want your AI to weigh that, Truthifi brings your other connected accounts in alongside SoFi.
What do people say about SoFi? In the public reviews we read for this guide (see note 2), the platform's breadth draws the most praise, with banking, investing, and lending under one login. Reviews shift over time, so check current ones on Trustpilot and the CFPB complaint database before you decide. For questions that span SoFi and external accounts, Truthifi lets your AI reason across your connected accounts at once.
Are there alternatives to SoFi? Start with what you'd be replacing: a student loan refinancer, a high-yield savings account, and a brokerage. Other banks, brokerages, and lenders offer those separately or together, and any of them can sit alongside SoFi. If the goal is an AI that sees your whole financial life rather than a different app, a connector like Truthifi sits on top of the accounts you already have.
Does SoFi have a public API I can use? SoFi does not offer a public consumer-facing API. Business and developer integrations are available only through SoFi At Work and select partner programs. We found no supported way to build personal account connections directly against SoFi's systems.
Is it safe to connect my SoFi account to Truthifi? No connection is entirely risk-free, but the design limits what can go wrong. Access is read-only by architecture, your credentials never pass through Truthifi, data is bank-grade encrypted in transit and at rest. You can control access per account and revoke it at any time (Connections → Agents → Revoke).
Do I need to write code to set up Truthifi? No. The entire Truthifi setup runs in your browser, no command line, API keys, or config files.
Which AI assistants does Truthifi work with? Truthifi works with MCP-capable AI assistants that support custom connectors. For exact, step-by-step setup for a specific assistant, see the per-assistant connect guides linked below.
Truthifi and your accounts beyond SoFi
SoFi does what it is built to do well, and reports clearly on the accounts it holds. By design, that view is one slice of your financial life; the rest of your household, from held-away retirement accounts to a spouse's brokerage to accounts at other institutions, sits outside it. Truthifi sits on top as a separate layer you own: one decoded, benchmarked picture of your connected institutions, ready for your AI, down to what each holding is costing you.
Because SoFi puts a Debt Summary and an Investment Portfolio Summary side by side in one app, the pay-down-or-invest question can feel fully answerable inside it. But if your 401(k) sits at Fidelity, that in-app comparison leaves out an account that may carry an employer match SoFi's summaries don't factor in. Before acting on it, ask your AI to rerun the comparison with the 401(k) and its match included.

The short version
SoFi is a financial super-app, and like any single provider, its own reports cover your SoFi accounts. Connect your other accounts with Truthifi to give your AI assistant the wider picture, outside brokerage, retirement, and bank accounts included. It takes a few minutes, free to start, no code. One quick test once you're connected: ask your AI the same net-worth question twice, once about SoFi alone and once about everything. Note the gap between the two answers, then rerun the test whenever SoFi's savings rate moves or you add a new loan, because that gap is the number SoFi's dashboard won't track for you.
