How to Connect ChatGPT to Your NFP Account Using Truthifi

Searching for "ChatGPT NFP"? You're in the right place. NFP is an insurance brokerage, wealth-management, and advisor network with more than 7,000 employees, founded in 1998 and headquartered in New York — and since April 2024, an Aon company, acquired for approximately $13.4 billion. NFP advisors serve individuals and businesses through a broad mix of wealth and advisory accounts, brokerage accounts, retirement plan accounts, managed accounts, and insurance and benefits products. Until now, getting a real-time household-level view of your NFP accounts meant exporting statements from your advisor's portal and copying them into ChatGPT — a slow, manual process that left you asking questions against data that was already out of date.

Truthifi changes that. With a ChatGPT NFP connection using Truthifi, ChatGPT can see your live NFP account balances, holdings, and transaction history through a read-only MCP connector brokered by Yodlee. Truthifi rebuilds your data on connection — normalizing security names, filling aggregator gaps, and stitching multi-account history into one clean timeline — so ChatGPT works with reliable data from the start. The connector never touches your NFP credentials and cannot move money, place trades, or alter any account setting.

This guide walks you through setup (about 5 minutes), explains exactly what Truthifi allows and blocks with your NFP data, and shows how to turn raw advisory network account data into actionable insights with ChatGPT.

2. What You Need

  • Active NFP account, accessed through your NFP advisor's client portal with online access enabled

  • ChatGPT Plus plan ($20/mo) with Apps & Connectors access

  • Developer mode enabled in ChatGPT (Settings → Advanced → toggle on Developer mode) — required before adding any custom MCP connector, including Truthifi

  • MFA (multi-factor authentication) enabled on your NFP account login

  • Free Truthifi account at truthifi.com

  • About 5 minutes for first-time setup

3. How to Connect ChatGPT to Your NFP Account

Ready to connect ChatGPT to financial accounts? Here's how to link ChatGPT to your NFP profile using Truthifi.

  1. Open Settings in ChatGPT. Go to chatgpt.com. Click your profile icon → Settings → Apps & Connectors.

  2. Add the Truthifi connector. Scroll to Custom connectors → Add custom connector. Enter Name: Truthifi, URL: https://api.truthifi.com/mcp. Click Add.

  3. Authorize your NFP accounts. ChatGPT redirects you to Truthifi's OAuth screen. Sign in to your Truthifi account, choose NFP from the institution list, complete the Yodlee aggregator handoff using your NFP portal credentials plus MFA, and select which accounts (wealth/advisory, brokerage, retirement plan, managed accounts, insurance and benefits) to share with ChatGPT.

  4. Enable Truthifi per conversation. In any new chat: Tools → Use apps → toggle Truthifi on. This step must be set each conversation.

  5. Verify the connection. Send: "What is the total value of my NFP accounts and how are they allocated across account types?" If ChatGPT responds with your actual NFP figures, the connection is live.

You've successfully linked your NFP account to ChatGPT for live, read-only advisory network account analysis.

4. Example Prompts for ChatGPT

  • Account Overview — "Pull all my connected NFP accounts. Show me the current balance for each account, the account type, and the total across all of them. Break out what percentage of my total is held in wealth/advisory, brokerage, retirement plan, and insurance accounts."

  • Wealth and Advisory Holdings Review — "Pull every holding across my NFP wealth and advisory accounts. Group by account, then by asset class, and show the dollar value and percentage weight of each position. Flag any single position that represents more than 10% of my total portfolio."

  • Retirement Plan Analysis — "Show me my NFP retirement plan accounts — 401(k), IRA, or other retirement vehicles. Display the current balance, contribution rate, investment options, and year-to-date performance for each. Tell me whether I'm on track for my retirement target."

  • Fee and Expense Review — "Calculate the total advisory fees and fund expense ratios I'm paying across my NFP accounts. Express the all-in annual cost in dollars and as a percentage of my total assets, broken down by account type."

  • Managed Account Performance — "Show me performance for my NFP managed accounts over the trailing 1-, 3-, and 12-month periods and year-to-date. Compare each account's return to an appropriate blended benchmark and tell me where I'm ahead or behind."

  • Insurance and Benefits Overview — "List any insurance or benefits products visible in my NFP accounts. For each, show current contract value or cash value, product type, and any notes on coverage or benefit structure."

  • Year-to-Date Performance Summary — "Calculate YTD performance across all my NFP accounts. Show the gain or loss in dollars and as a percentage for each account, and total my YTD result across the household."

  • Transaction History Summary — "Pull transactions across my NFP accounts for the past 90 days. Categorize by type — contributions, withdrawals, dividends, trades — and show a summary by account and by month."

5. Why Truthifi?

5.1. Security

Your NFP username and password never touch Truthifi's servers. Authentication occurs directly through NFP's aggregator handoff (Yodlee), creating a read-only, protocol-enforced connection secured with AES-256 encryption. ChatGPT receives only scoped data tokens, never your NFP portal credentials. You maintain complete control and can revoke access anytime from your NFP portal settings or your Truthifi dashboard.

5.2. Privacy

Your financial data stays under your complete control when using Truthifi. We never store login credentials from NFP or any institution. You decide which specific NFP accounts ChatGPT can access — you can share a wealth account, hide a retirement plan, or exclude insurance products. Data never gets sold to third parties, and connecting ChatGPT does not automatically grant access to other AI tools.

5.3. Audit Trail

Every MCP data request is logged with complete session details for ChatGPT financial planning transparency. When ChatGPT accesses your NFP data, the timestamp and specific information retrieved gets recorded automatically. You maintain full visibility into which account details were accessed during each interaction. This comprehensive tracking ensures you always know exactly what happened with your sensitive NFP information.

5.4. Data Quality

When NFP delivers raw account data through its aggregator partner (Yodlee), security strings, product labels, and account categories can be inconsistent across a large advisor network. Truthifi rebuilds that history from the aggregation source, normalizes security and ticker names, and resolves timing mismatches. The result: ChatGPT works with clean, dependable NFP data instead of raw aggregator output.

6. About ChatGPT

ChatGPT, built by OpenAI, is a general-purpose conversational AI that handles personal finance and portfolio analysis especially well when connected to live account data. The ChatGPT Plus plan ($20/mo) is required for Apps & Connectors access, which is what lets the Truthifi MCP connector plug in.

For NFP specifically, ChatGPT shines at household aggregation across multiple account types, fee analysis, and explaining the broad mix of wealth, retirement, and insurance products that NFP advisors manage. Because NFP serves both individuals and businesses across a wide product range, ChatGPT can help you see the full picture — total assets, fees, performance, and retirement readiness — in one conversation. Connect once, then ask anything from "what's my total NFP balance" to "how are my retirement plan accounts performing" without re-exporting data.

7. About NFP

NFP is an insurance brokerage, wealth-management, and advisor network headquartered in New York, New York. Founded in 1998, NFP serves individuals and businesses through more than 7,000 employees across its advisor network. On April 25, 2024, NFP was acquired by Aon plc for approximately $13.4 billion, and now operates as "NFP, an Aon company." NFP advisors offer a broad range of services including wealth and investment advisory, brokerage, retirement planning, insurance, and employee benefits.

Clients and advisors access accounts through the NFP advisor and client portal. Third-party read-only access to account balances and holdings is brokered through Yodlee.

8. Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to connect my NFP account using Truthifi?

Yes. Your NFP login happens on NFP's own authentication flow through the Yodlee aggregator handoff. Your username, password, and MFA codes never pass through Truthifi's servers. ChatGPT receives only a scoped, read-only data token — it cannot move money, place trades, surrender an insurance policy, or alter any NFP account setting. Every data request is logged, and you can revoke access from your NFP portal or your Truthifi dashboard at any time. Full details at https://truthifi.com/security.

Truthifi security overview →

Is this for advisors or clients?

Both. NFP is an advisor network that serves independent financial advisors and the individuals and businesses whose accounts are managed through NFP. An advisor can connect through Truthifi to analyze accounts across a book of business; a client can connect to understand the portfolio and insurance plan their NFP advisor manages. Connections are independent.

What can Truthifi actually do with my NFP data?

Truthifi pulls account balances, holdings, transaction history, and account metadata from your NFP accounts and makes them available to ChatGPT through a read-only MCP connector. ChatGPT can aggregate your household, analyze advisory fees, review retirement plan performance, summarize insurance products, and compare managed account returns. It cannot transfer money, place trades, or change anything on the NFP side.

Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan to use this with NFP?

Yes. To use ChatGPT with Truthifi, you need a ChatGPT Plus subscription at $20/mo or higher. Apps & Connectors must be enabled before connecting. Free ChatGPT accounts cannot add custom MCP connectors.

Where is my NFP data stored?

Your account data is fetched on demand from NFP's aggregator feed via Truthifi, used during the active ChatGPT conversation, and not retained in ChatGPT memory between sessions. Truthifi caches a normalized history under your account so ChatGPT has consistent context, but you can clear it from your dashboard at any time.

How do I disconnect ChatGPT from Truthifi?

Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → find Truthifi → Disconnect or Remove. You can also revoke access from your NFP portal under connected apps, or remove the institution from your Truthifi dashboard. Disconnecting ChatGPT does not affect any other AI you have connected using Truthifi.

What about my financial advisor?

Your NFP advisor manages your portfolio, handles insurance and benefits planning, and executes trades. ChatGPT, with read-only NFP data using Truthifi, helps you understand what is happening between meetings — your balances, fees, retirement plan performance, and overall allocation — so you can come to advisor conversations better prepared.

What NFP account types does Truthifi support?

Truthifi supports NFP wealth/advisory accounts, brokerage accounts, retirement plan accounts, managed accounts, and insurance and benefits products where they appear in the Yodlee aggregator feed. You can connect as many or as few as you want, and adjust later.

Can ChatGPT help me analyze my NFP retirement plan?

Yes. ChatGPT can pull NFP retirement plan balances, contribution data, and investment option performance from the Yodlee feed. It can show year-to-date performance and help you assess whether your allocation is aligned with your retirement target. It cannot make contribution changes, place trades within the plan, or give tax or retirement advice.

How is this different from logging into the NFP portal directly?

The NFP portal gives you the view your advisor configured, one account at a time. The ChatGPT + Truthifi connection gives you the same data plus the ability to ask open-ended questions across all your accounts at once, run fee and performance analysis, and get plain-English explanations of your holdings.

Can ChatGPT place trades or rebalance my NFP accounts?

No. ChatGPT cannot place trades or rebalance. All transactions on NFP happen through your advisor. ChatGPT can surface information and analysis so you can raise it with your advisor.

Can I connect both ChatGPT and Claude to my NFP account?

Yes. Each AI connection using Truthifi is independent. Connecting ChatGPT does not expose your NFP data to Claude, and vice versa. You control which accounts each AI can see, and you can revoke either connection at any time without affecting the other.

Does this replace the NFP portal?

No. The NFP portal remains the system of record for your accounts and the place where your advisor manages them. ChatGPT + Truthifi is for analysis and questions — it sits next to the portal, not in place of it.

What happens if NFP changes its login or MFA flow?

Truthifi's aggregator partner (Yodlee) maintains the connection. If NFP makes changes to login or MFA, you may be prompted to re-authenticate from your Truthifi dashboard. ChatGPT will let you know if data goes stale.

Is there a free ChatGPT path for this?

No. The NFP integration requires Apps & Connectors, which is gated to ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo) or higher. If cost is a concern, Truthifi also supports free or lower-cost AI clients (including OpenClaw).

Who can see my NFP data?

Only you, and only ChatGPT during an active conversation where you have toggled Truthifi on. Truthifi does not sell data, does not earn commissions on NFP products, and does not share your data with advertisers.

Subject to ChatGPT privacy policy.

9. MCP Integration Paths

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI agents like ChatGPT talk to external data sources through a structured, read-only interface. When you connect ChatGPT to NFP using Truthifi, you are using an MCP connector — infrastructure that translates ChatGPT's natural-language requests into safe, scoped MCP API calls against your live NFP data.

Truthifi runs MCP servers for finance: MCP banking, MCP investment, MCP brokerage, and MCP crypto. Each connector is read-only, protocol-enforced, and audit-logged. For NFP specifically, the MCP investment integration covers wealth/advisory, brokerage, retirement plan, managed account, and insurance and benefits accounts across the NFP (Aon) advisor network.

For developers and power users, Truthifi exposes its MCP API for custom integration work — building dashboards, internal tools, or routing NFP account data into other MCP-aware clients. A large insurance and wealth advisor network like NFP, with a broad product mix and Yodlee aggregation, is a real-world test of any MCP investment stack.
