How to Connect OpenClaw to Your SEI Account Using Truthifi
Searching for "OpenClaw SEI"? You're in the right place. SEI is a leading wealth management and investment platform company — managing $554.1 billion in assets under management and administering $1.29 trillion for wealth management organizations, RIAs, private banks, and institutional clients as of March 31, 2026. The SEI Wealth Platform handles managed accounts, trust accounts, retirement accounts, alternatives, and multi-custodian household views at scale. Until now, getting free, privacy-friendly AI analysis on your SEI account meant either paying a monthly AI subscription or manually extracting and pasting report data.
Truthifi changes that. With an OpenClaw SEI connection using Truthifi, OpenClaw — a free, open-source MCP-aware AI client — can see your live SEI account holdings, allocations, performance, and fees through the same read-only MCP infrastructure that powers our paid integrations. Truthifi normalizes SEI account history on connection from the BAA aggregation feed, fills timeline gaps, and resolves security-name inconsistencies. Your SEI credentials are never stored, and the connector cannot move money or alter any account.
This guide walks you through setup (about 5 minutes), what Truthifi allows and blocks with your SEI data, and how to get useful institutional-grade portfolio analysis without paying a per-month AI subscription.
2. What You Need
Active SEI account with SEI Advisor Center or SEI Wealth Platform access
OpenClaw client (free / open source) — desktop or self-hosted
MFA enabled on your SEI login
Free Truthifi account at truthifi.com
About 5 minutes for first-time setup
Want a hosted AI option? See /connect/chatgpt-sei
3. How to Connect OpenClaw to Your SEI Account
Ready to connect OpenClaw to financial accounts? Here's how to link OpenClaw to your SEI profile using Truthifi.
Install OpenClaw. Download OpenClaw from openclaw.org (or self-host from the public repo). Launch the client and complete first-run setup.
Add the Truthifi MCP server. In OpenClaw, open Settings → MCP Servers → Add Server. Enter Name: Truthifi, URL: https://api.truthifi.com/mcp. Save.
Authorize your SEI accounts. OpenClaw opens Truthifi's OAuth screen in your browser. Sign in to your Truthifi account, choose SEI, complete the BAA aggregator handoff with your SEI Advisor Center credentials plus MFA, and pick which SEI accounts (managed accounts, retirement accounts, trust accounts, alternative investments, mutual funds) to share with OpenClaw.
Pick your local or remote model. OpenClaw works with local models (Llama, Mistral, and others) or remote API models you bring yourself. Pick one in Settings → Model. The Truthifi connector works the same regardless.
Verify the connection. Ask: "List all my SEI accounts with current values, account types, and asset-class breakdowns." If OpenClaw responds with your real figures, you're live.
[Connect OpenClaw to SEI →]
Your SEI account is now linked to OpenClaw for free, read-only advisor-platform analysis on your own terms.
4. Example Prompts for OpenClaw
Local Holdings Snapshot — "Pull all holdings across my SEI accounts, grouped by asset class. Output a markdown table with account name, position, dollar value, and percentage weight. Save to my local notes folder."
Fee Audit to Local File — "Calculate the advisory fees and fund expense ratios across all my SEI accounts. Output the all-in cost by account in dollars and as a percentage of assets. Save as a CSV I can review later."
Managed Account Drift Report — "For each SEI managed account, compare current holdings to stated target allocations. Flag every asset class drifted more than 3% from target. Output a prioritized list I can bring to my next advisor meeting."
Retirement Account Summary — "Summarize the current value, asset mix, and one-year performance of my SEI retirement accounts (IRA, 401(k)). Output a clean markdown summary I can save locally."
Trust Account Holdings Export — "Pull the holdings and current value of my SEI trust accounts. Output a markdown table by position and asset class, and flag any positions that look unusual for a trust portfolio."
Alternative Investment Position List — "List all alternative investment positions in my SEI accounts with their current values and asset types. Output a clean summary and note any position where the value exceeds 10% of total portfolio assets."
Local Privacy-Friendly Performance Review — "Show my SEI account performance over the trailing 12 months and year-to-date. Output a markdown table by account, and write a short paragraph on which accounts performed best and worst."
Year-End Household Recap — "Aggregate all my SEI accounts into a household summary: total value, asset-class breakdown, net contributions and withdrawals, and fees paid for the year. Output as markdown and save to my local files folder."
5. Why Truthifi?
5.1. Security
Your SEI Advisor Center username and password never touch Truthifi's servers. Authentication occurs through SEI's aggregator partner (BAA), creating a read-only, protocol-enforced connection secured with AES-256 encryption. OpenClaw receives only scoped data tokens. You maintain complete control and can revoke access anytime from your SEI Advisor Center settings or your Truthifi dashboard.
5.2. Privacy
Your financial data stays under your complete control when using Truthifi. We never store login credentials from SEI or any institution. You decide which specific SEI accounts OpenClaw can access. Data is not sold to third parties. Because OpenClaw can run with local models, you can keep the full reasoning chain on your own machine — no data leaves your hardware except the MCP request to Truthifi for live account values.
5.3. Audit Trail
Every MCP data request is logged in your Truthifi dashboard, regardless of which AI client made it. When OpenClaw pulls SEI data into an answer, the timestamp and specific fields accessed are recorded. You can review the logs anytime to see exactly what OpenClaw touched.
5.4. Data Quality
SEI delivers raw account data through its aggregator partner. Security strings and allocation labels can be inconsistent across accounts and reporting periods. Truthifi rebuilds that history from the aggregation source, normalizes security and ticker names, and resolves timing gaps — so OpenClaw and any local model you run with it work on clean data, not raw aggregator output.
6. About OpenClaw
OpenClaw is a free, open-source MCP-aware AI client. It can run with local models (Llama, Mistral, and other open-weights models) or remote API models that you bring yourself. There is no OpenClaw subscription — you download the client, point it at whatever model you want, and connect MCP servers like Truthifi to give it data.
For SEI specifically, OpenClaw is the right choice when you want: (1) no monthly subscription, (2) maximum control over which model sees your account data, or (3) the ability to run analysis entirely on your own hardware. OpenClaw doesn't have the polish of the hosted assistants, but it gets you the same SEI account data through the same read-only Truthifi MCP connector — for free.
7. About SEI
SEI (SEI Investments Company) is one of the largest investment management and processing firms in the world, serving wealth management organizations, private banks, independent advisors, and institutional clients. Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Oaks, Pennsylvania, SEI is a publicly traded company on Nasdaq (SEIC) and a component of the S&P 400.
As of March 31, 2026, SEI managed $554.1 billion in AUM and administered $1.29 trillion in assets under administration. The SEI Wealth Platform serves 77 wealth management organizations in the U.S. and U.K. and integrates data from over 230 third-party custodians representing more than $50 billion in assets.
Headquarters: Oaks, Pennsylvania
Founded: 1968
Parent: Independent (Nasdaq: SEIC)

AUA: $1.29 trillion (as of March 31, 2026)

Supported account types: Managed accounts, brokerage accounts, retirement accounts (IRA, 401(k)), trust accounts, investment management programs, mutual funds, alternative investments
8. Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to connect my SEI account using Truthifi?
Yes. Your SEI login happens on SEI's authentication screen through the BAA aggregator handoff. Your username and password never pass through Truthifi's servers. OpenClaw receives only a scoped, read-only data token — it cannot move money, place trades, or change SEI settings. Every data request is logged, and you can revoke access at any time. Full details at https://truthifi.com/security.
What can Truthifi actually do with my SEI data?
Truthifi pulls holdings, allocations, performance history, advisory-fee detail, and account metadata from your SEI accounts and exposes them to OpenClaw through a read-only MCP connector. OpenClaw can explain your allocation, audit fees, surface drift, and write summaries to your local filesystem. It cannot move money or change SEI account settings.
Do I need a paid OpenClaw plan to use this with SEI?
No. OpenClaw is free and open source. There is no subscription. You install the client, point it at a model (local or remote), and connect Truthifi as an MCP server. The only paid layer would be if you choose to use a paid remote model API — but that is optional.
Can I run OpenClaw with a fully local model so nothing leaves my machine?
Yes. OpenClaw supports local models (Llama, Mistral, and others). With a local model, the reasoning stays on your hardware. The only data that leaves your machine is the MCP request to Truthifi, which is required to fetch your live SEI account data. Privacy-focused users managing SEI accounts with sensitive trust or alternative investment holdings often prefer this setup.
Where is my SEI data stored?
Your holdings and performance data is fetched on demand from SEI's aggregator feed via Truthifi, used during the active OpenClaw session, and not retained in OpenClaw memory between sessions unless you explicitly save it to your filesystem. Truthifi caches a normalized history so OpenClaw has consistent context, and you can clear it from your dashboard at any time.
How do I disconnect OpenClaw from Truthifi?
Open OpenClaw → Settings → MCP Servers → find Truthifi → Remove. You can also revoke access from your SEI Advisor Center or your Truthifi dashboard. Disconnecting OpenClaw does not affect any other AI you have connected through Truthifi.
How does Truthifi compare to other options for SEI?
Feature | Truthifi + OpenClaw | Manual report export | No Connection |
|---|---|---|---|
Live holdings | Live at query time | Manual export per session | Not available |
Read-only access | Protocol-enforced | Full credentials needed | N/A |
Credential storage | Never stored | Stored by tool | N/A |
Multi-account view | All SEI accounts unified | One at a time | N/A |
Cost | Free | Free | Free |
Local-model option | Yes | N/A | N/A |
Security cleanup | Normalized | Raw aggregator strings | N/A |
How is OpenClaw different from ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Perplexity for SEI?
OpenClaw is free and open-source — the others are paid hosted services. ChatGPT and Claude are polished hosted assistants with strong defaults for portfolio analysis and fee breakdowns. Perplexity adds live web citations for benchmarking. Grok adds real-time X context for market sentiment. OpenClaw gives you control and zero recurring cost, at the price of a little more setup. For SEI, the data quality is identical across all five because Truthifi is the same connector.
Can I use OpenClaw for SEI without trusting any cloud AI provider?
Yes — pair OpenClaw with a local model. The only cloud touchpoint is the Truthifi MCP server itself, required to reach SEI's aggregator feed. No third-party AI cloud sees your SEI account data.
Can I connect both OpenClaw and ChatGPT to my SEI account?
Yes. Each AI connection using Truthifi is independent. You can use OpenClaw for daily privacy-focused queries and a hosted assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) for occasional polished analysis. Revoke either anytime without affecting the other.
Does this replace the SEI Advisor Center?
No. The SEI Advisor Center and SEI Wealth Platform remain the systems of record for your accounts. OpenClaw + Truthifi is for analysis and local data work.
Can OpenClaw help with trust or alternative investment review on my SEI accounts?
Yes. OpenClaw can pull all trust account holdings and alternative investment positions and run analysis on your local machine. With a strong local model it can produce a detailed review memo. Even smaller local models can generate useful tables, drift flags, and position summaries.
Do I need technical skills to use OpenClaw?
You need a little more comfort with software setup than the hosted assistants require — installing a client, picking a model, configuring MCP. Guides are available in the OpenClaw repo. Once it's running, the day-to-day experience is similar to the hosted AIs.
Who can see my SEI data?
Only you, your chosen model, and the OpenClaw session you're running. If you use a local model, the model lives on your machine. If you use a remote model API, that provider sees the data you send it. Truthifi does not sell data and does not share it with advertisers.
Subject to whichever model provider you choose (or no third party, if you run local).
9. MCP Integration Paths
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI agents like OpenClaw talk to external data sources through a structured, read-only interface. When you connect OpenClaw to SEI using Truthifi, you are using a Truthifi MCP connector — infrastructure that translates the model's natural-language requests into safe, scoped MCP API calls against your live SEI data.
Truthifi runs MCP servers across finance: MCP banking, MCP investment, MCP brokerage, MCP crypto. Each connector is read-only, protocol-enforced, and audit-logged. For SEI, the MCP investment integration covers managed accounts, trust accounts, retirement accounts, and alternative investments on the SEI Wealth Platform.
For developers, Truthifi's MCP API is documented for custom MCP integration work. Because OpenClaw is open source, it's a great starting point if you want to fork the client, embed Truthifi's MCP connector into your own tool, or build a fully self-hosted MCP investment dashboard. The same security model applies: no credentials, read-only scopes, full audit trail.
