Connect Meta Muse to Coinbase and Kraken: your crypto next to everything else

By Scott Blandford, Founder & CEO, Truthifi · Reviewed by the Truthifi Team · Published September 24, 2026

You can buy, sell and watch prices on a crypto exchange. They don't show how your crypto sits next to your savings, your retirement accounts or your cash. Hold coins on both Coinbase and Kraken and you'll need two logins just to add up your total crypto balance, before you've counted anything else you own.

Meta Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, can't see Coinbase or Kraken on its own. Through Truthifi, you can connect Meta Muse to Coinbase and Kraken, and Truthifi brings your linked accounts into one view. Check Coinbase's and Kraken's status at truthifi.com/connections before you link them. After that, a Meta Muse Coinbase setup and a Meta Muse Kraken setup follow the same five steps.

In short: Muse can't link to Coinbase or Kraken by itself. Check each exchange's status, link it on Truthifi's page, then ask Muse to connect to your Truthifi account and click Authorize. Muse can then read your exchange balances, but it can't trade or move crypto through Truthifi.

How we checked this: Truthifi has tested its connection with Muse; every Muse detail here comes from Meta's own announcement and help pages.

Why crypto portfolios need a combined view more than most

An exchange only shows what you hold there. It can't tell you how much of everything you own sits in crypto, because it never sees your bank, brokerage or retirement balances. That's the gap a combined view closes: link those accounts in Truthifi alongside Coinbase and Kraken, and Muse can work out that share from one set of data whenever you ask.

History works the same way. A single exchange shows your activity there, but Truthifi builds your history from the transactions each institution makes available, like Coinbase's or Kraken's, so how far back it goes depends on the institution. Before comparing periods, Muse can ask which accounts are linked and how far back each one's data goes.

Truthifi's tools give Muse four views of the same accounts:

Meta Muse crypto questions work best when they name the exchange and pin a date, since exchange balances can move between Truthifi's daily updates. Start each one with "Using Truthifi":

  1. "Using Truthifi, what do I hold in my Coinbase and Kraken accounts, as of each account's latest update?" This one uses 2 credits (Truthifi pricing, as of October 2026).

  2. "Using Truthifi, how did my exchange account balances change over the last six months?"

  3. "Using Truthifi, what share of everything I've linked sits in my exchange accounts?"

The broader Meta Muse portfolio questions work here too:

Ask your AI:

  • "Using Truthifi, how is my portfolio split by asset class?"

  • "Using Truthifi, what are my balances across all my accounts?"

How to connect Meta Muse to Coinbase and Kraken

Two links make this work, and neither goes through the chat. Your exchanges connect to Truthifi on Truthifi's own page, through Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts. Muse connects separately, to Truthifi's MCP server, the address it uses to call Truthifi's tools. It reads your data only after you sign in and click Authorize.

Because the exchanges link on Truthifi's page, never paste an exchange password or API key into Muse. Truthifi doesn't offer personal API keys. Connect through sign-in instead. For how the connection partners fit in, see Is it safe to connect your accounts?

Once Muse is connected, Truthifi's MCP tools work only with the signed-in person's own Truthifi data. Beyond keeping access scoped that way, Truthifi also tidies what Muse reads, cleaning and organizing the data, for example labelling reinvested dividends correctly and matching the same security across accounts, so your assistant can work from more consistent numbers.

What you need

You'll need two things to connect, plus a third only if you track assets by hand:

  1. Meta Muse itself, which Meta's launch post (2026) describes as available in the US on iOS, Android and muse.ai. There's a free tier with a usage limit, and paid plans add more weekly usage (Meta's subscriptions help, as of October 2026).

  2. A Truthifi account with your own login. According to Truthifi's pricing page, connecting your own AI assistant works on every current consumer plan, including the free ones, so you can start free (limits apply). One Truthifi login per person. Keep your Truthifi login to yourself: family members and colleagues should each have their own.

  3. Connect Pro or higher, or Monitoring, if you want Muse to add or read assets you track by hand, such as a home or a mortgage.

Setup: five steps

  1. Check each exchange. Look up Coinbase and Kraken on Truthifi's status pages, then link the accounts you use on Truthifi's page.

  2. Ask Muse to connect. In Muse, ask: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." If Muse can't find it, add the address: "...using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

  3. Sign in on Truthifi's page. When the Truthifi sign-in comes up, enter your details only on Truthifi's own page. Keep your Truthifi password out of the Muse chat.

  4. Read what the Authorize screen lists, then click Authorize. Make sure the listed permissions match what you expect, since the app name on that screen might not read "Muse". It covers what the assistant can read, from accounts and balances to holdings and transactions. It also covers two kinds of change: managing assets and liabilities you track by hand, and running portfolio scans, which is how a refresh of your exchange data starts. Click Authorize to connect, or Cancel to stop.

  5. Check it works. Ask "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" and check that every account you've linked comes back.

If you haven't used Truthifi in your assistant for about four weeks, sign in to Truthifi again to keep things connected.

The security model for crypto accounts specifically

Through Truthifi, Muse doesn't get your exchange login. Before you approve anything, Truthifi's Authorize screen lists the changes Muse could make through Truthifi, and trading or transfers aren't on that list. Once an exchange is linked, Muse can read its balances through Truthifi, but it can't buy, sell or send crypto through Truthifi.

What the Authorize screen lists

The Authorize screen is where you let an assistant into your Truthifi account, not into Coinbase, Kraken or any institution directly. It lists what the assistant can do with your Truthifi data: "read" access to things like your accounts, balances, holdings and transactions, and a limited "write" access: create and manage manual assets and liabilities, and run portfolio scans. Nothing on it can trade or move money.

You stay in control inside Truthifi: choose which connected accounts each assistant can see under Settings → Sharing, and revoke any assistant under Connections → Agents.

Truthifi gives your AI assistant a sign-in token rather than your password, and Truthifi says your data stays encrypted in transit and at rest (see Is it safe to connect your accounts?). Truthifi also keeps a count of the tools your AI assistant calls, per day and per month. That count tracks tool calls and credits. It isn't a record of your AI conversations.

On Meta's side, per Meta's Connectors help (2026), Muse won't take many important actions without your approval by default, and you can change when it asks in Settings. Your assistant, not Truthifi, decides whether it asks before running a Truthifi tool, so review those approval settings before you let Muse run tools that change data. The same help page notes that Meta doesn't review custom connectors or how they use your information.

When you connect an AI assistant, that AI company receives the data Truthifi's tools return and handles it under its own terms. In its launch post (2026), Meta says Muse doesn't share your conversations or the data on its cloud computer with its ad systems, and that you can opt out of training use.

Hard limits: what Muse can't do with your crypto

Muse can't buy, sell or send crypto through Truthifi. It doesn't need your exchange login to read your data. The only changes on Truthifi's list are hand-tracked assets and liabilities, and portfolio scans. If you share a household, each person connects their own Truthifi login to their own assistant, because it's one Truthifi login per person.

Supported exchanges

Check each exchange's status at truthifi.com/connections first. According to Truthifi's own published figures on truthifi.com/connections (2026), we link to 18,000+ financial institutions through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts, monitor $6B+ in assets, and run 130+ automated checks on what you link. Each exchange has its own status page: see Coinbase and Kraken.

How current the numbers are

Truthifi's figures reflect each account's most recent update, not the current second's price. Truthifi refreshes linked accounts automatically once a day, when the exchange's connection is working. You don't pay for the automatic daily refresh. An on-demand refresh uses 3 credits. If the service connecting your exchange is down, a refresh won't run, and Truthifi returns an error instead.

Here's what common crypto checks cost in Truthifi credits, as of October 2026:

Holdings questions show your positions on a day you pick or as of each account's latest update. To see whether a refresh has finished, ask Muse to check its status, which costs no credits. Truthifi's ready-made prompts help here too. "Asset allocation statement" shows your portfolio by asset class and account. "Balance sheet" shows what you own and owe, your net worth and how it changed over the year, with full results on Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+.

Disconnecting

Revoke in Truthifi first; it works even if Muse still lists Truthifi. Go to Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke, then confirm. According to Meta's Connectors help (2026), you can disconnect a connector in Muse under Settings → Connectors.

Once revoked, your assistant stops getting new data from Truthifi. It doesn't delete what the assistant already received, so ask Muse to forget what it used.

What's next

According to Meta's launch post, Muse turns a goal into a plan and keeps working on it. Meta describes an agent that "keeps working after people close the app, and comes back when something changes or when it needs approval, like before it sends an email or makes a purchase" (Meta, 2026). A separate Sentinel agent approves anything that reaches the internet, and Muse keeps an audit trail of what it has done. That makes a recurring check practical, such as the share of your linked balances held on exchanges at the start of each month.

To set one up, give Muse the goal in one line: "Using Truthifi, on the first of each month, tell me what share of my linked balances sits in my Coinbase and Kraken accounts." Each check uses your Truthifi credits. As of October 2026, most tools cost 1 credit per call and a holdings lookup costs 2. Credits reset every day and every month, and every assistant you connect shares your plan's credits.

One caution on the setup itself: Meta's help describes custom connectors created by asking Muse without naming MCP. If Muse's prompts look different from step 2, fall back to giving it Truthifi's MCP server address.

One thing to weigh before you lean on that monthly crypto share: it's only as accurate as the total underneath it. Leave a retirement or savings account unlinked and the share on exchanges reads higher than the true figure. So the most useful first monthly check may not be about crypto at all. Ask Muse which accounts are linked, and link the missing ones before you trust the share.

Frequently asked questions

What is Truthifi?

Every account you link lands in one Truthifi view, where it's checked for fees, concentration and other issues. No trading commissions pass through Truthifi, no ads, and no advice. Once you've signed in and clicked Authorize, assistants such as Meta Muse read that combined view, exchanges included, through Truthifi's MCP server.

How do I connect Meta Muse to Coinbase?

Look up Coinbase at truthifi.com/connections/coinbase first to confirm its connection is working, then link it on Truthifi's page, not inside Muse. Muse itself only connects to Truthifi, so your Coinbase balances arrive in the same answers as your bank and retirement accounts. Kraken joins them once you link it.

Is a Meta Muse Kraken setup any different from a Meta Muse Coinbase setup?

Both follow the same five setup steps. Each exchange links on Truthifi's page, not inside Muse, and Muse connects to Truthifi once rather than to each exchange separately. The only exchange-specific step is checking each one's status page at truthifi.com/connections before you link it, since Coinbase and Kraken are tracked as separate connections even though Muse talks only to Truthifi.

Can Muse trade or move my crypto through Truthifi?

No. The only changes Truthifi's Authorize screen lists are managing hand-tracked assets and liabilities and running portfolio scans. Muse can read your Coinbase and Kraken balances and holdings through Truthifi, but a buy, a sale or a transfer of coins happens only on the exchange, under your own login.

Do I give Muse my Coinbase or Kraken login?

No. You link the exchanges on Truthifi's page, never in the chat, since Truthifi doesn't offer personal API keys to paste anywhere. Instead, Muse reaches your data through a sign-in token from Truthifi, one you can revoke at any time from Connections → Agents.

Which Meta Muse crypto questions work best?

The questions that work best stick to holdings, history and share of the whole. Ask what you hold on each exchange as of its latest update, how exchange balances changed over a period, or what share of everything you've linked sits on exchanges. Start each one with "Using Truthifi" so Muse knows where to look.

Can Meta Muse portfolio questions include my crypto?

Yes, once the exchanges are linked in Truthifi. Questions about your asset-class split or your balances across all accounts then include Coinbase and Kraken alongside everything else. The answer only covers what you've linked, so add bank and brokerage accounts too for the full picture.

Can Muse keep an eye on my crypto share over time?

As a recurring goal, yes. According to Meta's launch post, Muse keeps working after the app is closed. Each check uses Truthifi credits, and whether Muse asks before running a Truthifi tool depends on Muse, not on Truthifi, so set its approval preferences in Muse's Settings before you schedule repeat checks.

Which Truthifi tools does Muse use for crypto questions?

Mostly the same ones it uses for any account: a holdings lookup for positions on a chosen day, a balance history for opening and closing balances over a range, and an accounts list for what's linked. The full list, with each tool's name, is on the Truthifi MCP tools page.

How many credits does a crypto question use?

Usually just one credit. Most tools cost 1 credit per call, a holdings lookup costs 2, and a refresh costs 3. On a free plan, 5 credits go quickly (see pricing, as of October 2026): one holdings call and one refresh use a full day's credits. Credits reset daily and monthly, and every assistant you connect shares them.

Can I choose which accounts Muse sees?

Yes, though Muse starts out seeing the accounts you've linked. Go to Settings → Sharing in Truthifi, select the assistant and pick what it can see, whether that's only the two exchanges or the exchanges plus everything else you track. Leave something out, and it stays out of Muse's answers.

What if an exchange connection stops updating?

Ask Muse to run Truthifi's "Account connection check" prompt, which shows which accounts are linked and whether any have stopped updating. If the service that connects your exchange is having an outage, a refresh won't run and Truthifi returns an error, so check the exchange's status page and try again later.

How up to date are my crypto balances in Muse?

They're as current as each account's last refresh, not the live price. Linked accounts refresh automatically once a day when the connection is working, at no credit cost. If you need something newer, ask Muse for a refresh, which uses 3 credits.

Do I need a paid Truthifi plan?

Not to connect. You can connect your own AI assistant on any current consumer plan, including the free ones. Some questions need more: assets you track by hand, such as a home or a mortgage, need Connect Pro or higher, or Monitoring, and a full balance sheet needs Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+.

Does Muse keep my crypto data after I disconnect?

It can. Revoking stops new data, but what Muse already received stays with Muse, and it may remain in Muse's memories and your conversation history under Meta's own terms. Ask Muse to forget those interactions once you've disconnected.
