Meta Muse for finance: connect your accounts using Truthifi

Reviewed and approved by the Truthifi Team · Drafted with the Truthifi Bot · Last updated October 5, 2026

Quick answer

Three steps connect Meta Muse to your real accounts: link your accounts in Truthifi, ask Muse to connect to Truthifi, and click Authorize when prompted. After that, when you ask about your money, Muse can call Truthifi's tools for balances, holdings, transactions and spending. Truthifi has tested its own side of this flow: the sign-in, the Authorize screen and the tools. Meta documents custom connectors but not this exact sequence, so if Muse doesn't recognise the request, use the server address in step 2. Get started with Truthifi

Meta Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, launched on 8 September 2026, according to Meta's own announcement (2026). It runs on its own cloud computer, connects to apps you choose, and can keep working on a goal after you close the app. What it can't do on its own is see your bank, brokerage or retirement accounts.

As of October 2026, Muse is rolling out in the US in the Meta Muse app on iOS and Android and on the web at muse.ai, and you can also message it in WhatsApp. There's no settings form for Truthifi. Meta's help on Muse and connectors (2026) says that for a service not in Muse's Connector list, you ask Muse to create a custom connector. Treat the wording below as a starting point. Truthifi's suggested prompt is "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." Meta's help doesn't name MCP, so if Muse doesn't find Truthifi by name, step 2 gives the server address to add.

If tool names mean nothing to you, skip them: ask in plain words and Muse picks the tool. If you already use MCP servers, the tool names below tell you what each call returns and which plan it needs.

Muse itself is free with a usage limit, and Meta's paid plans (2026) add more weekly usage. On the Truthifi side, every current consumer plan, free ones included, lets you connect your own AI assistant. This page gathers Truthifi's guides for Meta Muse finance questions: setup, what to ask, and guides by account group and by provider. If you're an advisor rather than an individual investor, the advisor note near the end covers which assistants suit firms.

What Muse can do with your data

Once you connect it, Muse can answer factual questions about the accounts you've linked in Truthifi, in one place. That covers balances, holdings, transactions and spending by category, and, on the right Truthifi plan, fees, performance and your Truthifi Score. The answers are facts about your accounts, not recommendations.

Truthifi puts your linked accounts in one view and checks them for fees, concentration and other issues. Truthifi's MCP tools work only with the signed-in person's own Truthifi data. Before any of it reaches Muse, we clean and organize the data: we label reinvested dividends correctly, for example, and match the same security across accounts, so Muse works from more consistent numbers. Linked accounts refresh automatically once a day, when the connection to your bank or broker is working.

By Truthifi's own count (an internal product figure, not an independent audit), we check your accounts for 130+ kinds of issues, and those findings shape your Truthifi Score. Examples covered on this page include fees that look above average, heavy exposure to single stocks (including through funds) and accounts that have stopped updating. With Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher, Muse can show the Score and how it has changed over time.

Questions across your linked accounts

Money questions rarely stop at one institution, so we built Truthifi's tools to answer from the accounts you've linked. Four do most of the work:

  • get_accounts lists your linked accounts and how far back each one's data goes.

  • get_composition splits your portfolio by asset class, sector, industry or country (top 10 of each).

  • get_balance_history shows each account's opening and closing balance over a date range.

  • get_equity_concentrations shows your exposure to individual stocks, including through funds (Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher).

A fifth tool, get_advisors, covers the people rather than the money: it shows the financial advisors linked to your accounts, with their years of experience, designations, employers, registered states, number of disclosures, and which of your accounts each one manages.

Questions to ask

Ask your AI:

  • "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?"

  • "Using Truthifi, how is my portfolio split by asset class?"

  • "Using Truthifi, what did I spend on groceries and dining each month this year?"

  • "Using Truthifi, what are my five biggest positions today?" (2 credits)

  • "Using Truthifi, list my transactions over $200 last month."

  • "Using Truthifi, how much am I paying in fees, by account?" (Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+)

  • "Using Truthifi, how did my investments do this year against a benchmark?" (Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher)

  • "Using Truthifi, what changed in my Truthifi score over the last six months?" (Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher)

Start each one with "Using Truthifi" and ask for facts. More questions, with the tool and plan for each, are in how to ask Meta Muse about your portfolio, and every Truthifi tool, with its credits and plan, is on Truthifi's MCP tools page.

Fee review on each account

get_fees shows fees per account, by type, and needs Connect Max, Monitoring, or Monitoring Plus+. Separately, Truthifi flags fees that look above average on Connect Pro or higher (see Plans, credits and prices below). Truthifi's "Portfolio health check" prompt reads your Truthifi Score trend, open findings and fees; full results need Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+. Fee answers describe what you paid; they don't tell you whether to change anything.

How Muse connects to your accounts

There are two links. Your institutions connect to Truthifi on Truthifi's page, not in the chat; Muse then connects to Truthifi when you ask it to, sign in on Truthifi's own page and click Authorize. MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is how Truthifi's tools reach Muse once that second link is in place.

You sign in to your bank or broker through Truthifi's connection partners (Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts), not through Truthifi or your AI assistant. Because the partner handles that sign-in, Truthifi doesn't see or store your bank username and password when you connect Muse. The five steps:

  1. Link your accounts in Truthifi. See your bank or broker's connection status at truthifi.com/connections before linking it.

  2. Ask Muse to connect. In Muse, ask: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." If Muse can't find Truthifi, add the address: "…using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

  3. Sign in on Truthifi's page. When Truthifi's sign-in appears, sign in only on Truthifi's own sign-in page. Your Truthifi password should never be typed into the Muse chat.

  4. Click Authorize. When Truthifi's Authorize screen appears, read what it lists, then click Authorize to connect, or Cancel to stop.

  5. Check it works. Ask "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?"

Step 2 is the one part Meta's help doesn't spell out, so it's the step most likely to look different in your Muse; steps 3 to 5 happen on Truthifi's side, which Truthifi has tested. The Authorize screen lists what the assistant can read and two kinds of change: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and refreshing a connection's data on demand. For every detail, see how to connect Truthifi to Meta Muse or the shorter quick reference.

Security and privacy

Meta's help doesn't describe any review of custom connectors, so the protections that matter sit on our side. Your bank and brokerage accounts are connected to Truthifi read-only. Through Truthifi, Muse can read them, but it can't move money, place trades or change anything in those accounts. Inside Truthifi itself, three tools make changes: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and an on-demand refresh. Unless you narrow it, your AI assistant can see the accounts you've linked in Truthifi. Want an assistant to see fewer accounts? Open Settings → Sharing and select the assistant.

One Truthifi login per person, and never share a login, even inside a family or firm. Truthifi encrypts your data in transit and at rest. What your AI assistant receives is a sign-in token from Truthifi rather than your password. Revoke it whenever you like under Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke. Separately, Truthifi's call log counts tool calls and credits, per day and per month; it isn't a record of your AI conversations.

Meta holds the other half of the privacy picture. Connecting an assistant means its AI company receives the data Truthifi's tools return and handles it under its own terms. Meta states, in its Muse announcement and help pages (2026), that Muse doesn't share your conversations or its cloud computer's data with its ad systems, and that you can opt out of training use. Truthifi can't verify Meta's representations. Before step 2, look for the training opt-out in Muse's settings, set it the way you want, and read Meta's privacy terms.

Disconnecting

The full revoke path, in Truthifi and in Muse, is in the FAQ below. Worth knowing in advance: under Truthifi's current connection settings, if you haven't used Truthifi in your assistant for roughly four weeks, you may need to sign in to Truthifi again to keep the connection active.

Supported accounts and institutions

Bank and brokerage accounts come in through Truthifi's connection partners, and you can add assets Truthifi can't link, such as a home or a mortgage, by hand.

Per Truthifi platform data, Truthifi reaches 18,000+ financial institutions through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts, and the number of connections and AI-assistant credits available depends on your plan. See your bank or broker's connection status at truthifi.com/connections before you link it, and if you'd like to weigh the aggregators first, read Is it safe to connect your accounts? Adding assets and debts by hand from your own AI assistant uses the create_asset_liability tool, which needs Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher: that is, Connect Pro, Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+.

Connecting different account types together

Every linked account lands in the same view, and the steps to connect Muse don't change. What changes is the questions worth asking, which is why there's a guide for each group of institutions, from custodians and trading apps to banks and exchanges.

Why a connection beats a spreadsheet

A pasted figure reflects your balances on the day you copied it. With a connection, Muse asks us for what it needs each time it answers, so the number reflects Truthifi's latest refresh rather than an old copy. Truthifi's once-a-day automatic refresh doesn't use your AI assistant credits, and the cleanup described above is already applied when Muse asks. Most Truthifi data tools also let your assistant name the fields it wants back, and many let it limit a question to chosen accounts.

You can still type or paste figures into Muse, but the answer is then only as current as your copy, and the details end up in your conversation history. With a connection, Truthifi builds your history from the transactions your bank or broker makes available, so how far back it goes depends on the institution.

Getting started

Open the Muse AI app or muse.ai and start with three plain questions: your balances, your asset mix and last month's spending. Each answer also helps you check that the accounts you expected are linked and up to date. Then ask "What plan am I on and how many credits have I used today?" so you know which tools you can use.

That last question calls get_subscription_info, which shows your plan, credits used and left, and which tools you can use. It costs no credits.

Plans, credits and prices

Truthifi has two memberships. The lighter one, Truthifi Connect, is for using Truthifi with your own AI assistant and comes in three plans: Connect Explore, Connect Pro and Connect Max. The other, Truthifi Monitoring, is the Truthifi web app with monitoring, split into Free Checkup, Monitoring and Monitoring Plus+. As of October 2026, Connect Pro runs $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Connect Max runs $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year. Monitoring and Monitoring Plus+ both start with a 14-day free trial.

AI assistant credits per day and per month, as of October 2026:

  • Free Checkup and Connect Explore: 5 and 25

  • Connect Pro: 20 and 75

  • Monitoring: 25 and 150

  • Connect Max: 75 and 400

  • Monitoring Plus+: 75 and 500

Most tools cost 1 credit per call, though eleven need Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher, and get_fees needs Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+. Connect more than one assistant, and they share your plan's credits.

Reviewing your allocation

Ask "Using Truthifi, how is my portfolio split by asset class?", then follow with sector or country. Plans from Connect Pro or Monitoring up also let Muse show your exposure to single stocks, including what you hold through funds, and get_market_cap_allocation splits your portfolio across market-cap sizes, for stocks and funds separately. Truthifi's "Asset allocation statement" prompt shows your portfolio by asset class and account; "Schedule of investments" lists each position by account, with cost, value and gain. These describe what you hold. They aren't recommendations.

Goals that keep running

In Meta's description, Muse turns a goal into a plan and keeps working on it. Asking for a monthly summary of your balances is a simple example, and each run draws on the credits above. Whether your assistant asks before running a Truthifi tool depends on the assistant, not on Truthifi, so keep the data-changing tools out of goals Muse runs on its own.

Spending and cash flow questions

Most budgeting questions start with categories, and get_budget_flow_summary shows spending and income by period and category. Truthifi's "Recurring subscriptions" prompt finds subscriptions and recurring charges on your accounts, and its "Cash flow statement" prompt shows operating, investing and financing cash flows, reconciled to your cash balances. For line-by-line detail, get_transactions returns your individual transactions, a page at a time. Requests longer than 90 days return the most recent 90 days.

Truthifi's ready-made prompts

If you'd rather not write the question yourself, Truthifi also offers ready-made prompts to connected assistants. "What I hold" shows your current positions, allocation and market-cap mix, and flags accounts that have stopped updating; full results need Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher. "Where my money went" shows your monthly spending trend by category. "Account connection check" shows which accounts are linked and whether any have stopped updating. These prompts are instructions for your assistant; they carry no account data until the assistant runs the tools.

Keeping answers current

If an answer looks out of date, ask for a refresh. An on-demand refresh uses 3 credits and won't run while your bank's data connection is down. get_scan_status checks how a refresh is going, at no credit cost. Your daily and monthly credits reset at set times; asking "what plan am I on?" shows when.

Memory, context and forgetting

According to Meta, Muse remembers what matters to you, and you can tell it to forget. For money questions that cuts both ways. Muse can remember what you told it in later conversations, and information it already used can stay in its memories and your conversation history after you disconnect. You can ask Muse to forget those interactions, though what happens to your chat afterwards depends on Muse and your settings there.

How Meta Muse AI differs from a chat assistant

Meta calls Muse a personal AI agent built to act, not only to answer: it pursues goals across the apps you connect, keeps going after you close the app, and asks before sensitive steps. Our part is narrower: we give that agent your accounts.

Under the hood, Meta says, Muse runs on Muse Secure VM, a dedicated cloud computer with its own browser, powered by Meta's Muse Spark model.

Approvals and the audit trail

Meta says that, by default, Muse won't take many important actions without your approval, and that you can change when it asks in Settings. According to Meta, a separate Sentinel agent must approve anything that reaches the internet, and Muse keeps an audit trail of what it has done and plans to do. Meta also says Muse can't see passwords or payment methods you share with it. On Truthifi's side, two tools carry their own instructions. create_asset_liability (Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher) adds one asset or liability you track by hand, and tells the assistant to show you a preview and save only after you confirm. run_scan refreshes one connection's data now, costs 3 credits, and tells the assistant to ask you first.

Muse or the Truthifi AI agent?

Our recommendation: if you already use Muse daily, connect it on a free Connect plan first, then move to Connect Pro ($5.99 a month) when you want single-stock exposure, benchmark performance and your Score history. If you'd be installing Muse only for money questions, try the built-in Truthifi AI agent with a Monitoring plan's 14-day free trial, because there's less to set up. Compare plans

Pick Muse when you want one agent that also handles other tasks in your life, with your Truthifi data in the same place. Pick the built-in Truthifi AI agent when you're on a Monitoring plan and just want answers about your accounts. The two are separate: the built-in Truthifi AI agent is included in Monitoring and Monitoring Plus+, while any current consumer plan lets you connect your own assistant.

Where this goes next

Meta documents three connector routes today: a reviewed connector directory, an early-access programme for developers, and custom connectors you create by asking Muse. Truthifi uses the custom route. Meta's help doesn't mention MCP or describe reviewing custom connectors, so if Meta reshapes that route, step 2 above is the step most likely to change. For how custom connectors work across assistants, see the state of MCP in 2026.

Bottom line

Muse is built to act across the apps in your life, and Truthifi gives it your accounts in one place. Take the next small step: start free (limits apply), link one account on Truthifi's page, and ask Muse for your balances. Once that answer checks out, pick the one question you'd like Muse to keep asking for you. A monthly balance summary works on any plan, while a recurring fee check needs get_fees on Connect Max, Monitoring or Monitoring Plus+, so match the plan to the goal before you schedule it.

Frequently asked questions

What does Meta Muse add for personal finance?

Compared with a chat assistant, Muse's main addition is persistence. It keeps working on a goal after you close the app, so a finance question can become a standing check rather than a one-time lookup. Truthifi supplies the account data behind those checks, and each run draws on your Truthifi plan's credits.

What Meta Muse finance questions can I ask?

Ask Meta Muse factual questions about the accounts you've linked in Truthifi: balances, holdings, transactions, spending by category, and, on the right plan, fees, performance and your Truthifi Score. Start each question with "Using Truthifi" so Muse pulls the answer from your linked accounts instead of guessing.

Is there a Meta Muse AI app?

Yes. As of October 2026, the Meta Muse AI app is rolling out in the US on iOS and Android; Muse also runs on the web at muse.ai, and you can message it in WhatsApp. Meta says Muse is in limited testing and isn't available in all locations yet.

What Muse plan do I need to connect my accounts?

No specific Muse plan is required to connect your accounts. Muse is free with a usage limit, and paid plans add more weekly usage, but no Meta page ties custom connectors to a plan.

What does it cost on the Truthifi side?

Connecting Muse costs nothing to start: you can connect your own AI assistant on any current consumer plan, including the free ones. Free plans include 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month, and most tools cost 1 credit per call. Connect Pro and Connect Max add more credits and tools.

How safe is connecting Muse to my financial accounts?

Truthifi's bank and brokerage access is read-only. Your assistant can read those accounts, but it can't move money, place trades or change anything there. The exceptions are two tools that change data inside Truthifi: adding or deleting assets you track by hand, and an on-demand refresh.

How do I disconnect Muse?

In Truthifi, open Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke. Once you revoke in Truthifi, the assistant is cut off, even if it still lists Truthifi. Meta's help says Muse connectors are disconnected under Settings → Connectors. Revoking doesn't delete what Muse already received, but you can ask Muse to forget those interactions.

Can Muse help with tax or retirement questions?

Through Truthifi, Muse can show the facts behind tax or retirement questions, such as your holdings, your asset mix and each account's balance over a date range, but not the advice itself. Truthifi is not an investment adviser and doesn't give investment, tax or legal advice.

What can't Muse do for my finances through Truthifi?

Through Truthifi, Muse can't move money, place trades or change anything at your bank or brokerage. Truthifi gives Muse facts about your accounts, not recommendations, and Muse isn't built for advisory firms, since Meta describes it as a personal agent with no firm or admin product.
