How to Connect Claude to Your AssetMark Account Using Truthifi
Searching for "Claude AssetMark"? You're in the right place. AssetMark is a turnkey asset management platform (TAMP) where independent advisors build model-based portfolios and clients hold the professionally managed accounts that result. Whether you're an advisor reviewing managed accounts across your book or a client logging into InvestorPortal to see what your advisor built, your AssetMark data — holdings, model allocations, performance, advisory fees — has lived behind a portal login. Until now, asking "Claude for AssetMark" meant downloading PDF reports, pasting numbers into Claude, and praying you didn't fat-finger a digit.
Truthifi changes that. With a Claude AssetMark connection using Truthifi, Claude can see your live AssetMark managed-account holdings, model allocations, performance history, and advisory-fee detail through an Anthropic-supported MCP custom connector. Truthifi rebuilds your data on connection: it normalizes security strings, fills aggregator gaps from BAA, Plaid, and Yodlee feeds, and stitches multi-account history into one clean timeline — so Claude reasons about reliable data, not raw managed-account exports. The connection is read-only, never stores your AssetMark or eWealthManager credentials, and cannot move money or place trades.
This guide walks you through setup (about 5 minutes), what Truthifi allows and blocks with your AssetMark data, and the kinds of long-form Claude analyses that work especially well on managed-account data.
2. What You Need
Active AssetMark account, accessed through the advisor (eWealthManager) or client (InvestorPortal) platform
Claude Pro plan ($20/mo) — required for custom MCP connectors
MFA enabled on your AssetMark login
Free Truthifi account at truthifi.com
About 5 minutes for first-time setup

Sign in to your Truthifi account, choose AssetMark from the institution list, complete the BAA/Plaid/Yodlee handoff with your AssetMark credentials and MFA, and choose which AssetMark managed accounts (advisor-managed portfolios, SMAs, UMAs, model portfolios) to share with Claude.
Enable Truthifi tools in your conversation. Open a new chat. Click the tools icon and toggle Truthifi on. Claude remembers your tool selection between conversations within the same project.
Verify the connection. Send: "What is the total value across all my connected AssetMark accounts, broken out by model portfolio and asset class?" If Claude responds with your actual AssetMark figures, you're live.
[Connect Claude to AssetMark →]
Your AssetMark account is now linked to Claude for live, read-only managed-account analysis.
4. Example Prompts for Claude
Long-Form Holdings & Allocation Memo — "Pull every holding across my AssetMark-managed accounts. Write a 1,500-word memo explaining how my money is invested: the model portfolios in use, the asset-class mix, how the live allocation compares to each model's target, and the three biggest things I should understand about how this portfolio is built."
Performance vs. Benchmark Analysis — "Review the trailing 1-, 3-, and 12-month and year-to-date performance of each AssetMark-managed account. Compare each to an appropriate blended benchmark for its model, write a recommendation on which accounts are pulling their weight, and explain what drove any underperformance."
Advisory-Fee Decision Framework — "Take the advisory fees and underlying fund expense ratios across all my AssetMark accounts. Build a framework comparing my all-in cost to (a) a lower-cost index model and (b) the value the active management is adding. Show the dollar and percentage impact over 5, 10, and 20 years."
Household Aggregation Review — "Aggregate every AssetMark account in my household. Write an analysis covering total assets, the combined asset-class mix, how each account contributes to the household total, and whether the household-level allocation matches our stated risk profile."
Model Drift Reconciliation — "For each AssetMark-managed account, reconcile current holdings against the model's target weights. Flag every position and asset class drifted more than 3% from target, rank accounts by how far out of tolerance they are, and explain the likely tax cost of bringing each back."
Tax-Managed Sleeve Deep Dive — "Analyze any tax-managed sleeve in my AssetMark accounts. Calculate realized vs. unrealized gains year-to-date, identify harvestable losses, and explain in plain language how the tax-management overlay has affected turnover and after-tax return."
Contributions & Withdrawals Analysis — "Reconcile all contributions and withdrawals across my AssetMark accounts over the past 24 months. Show net flows by account and by quarter, and tell me whether my funding pace is consistent with reaching my goals."
Asset-Class Exposure Map — "Across all my AssetMark accounts, map my total exposure to US equity, international equity, fixed income, alternatives, and cash. Compare it to my target risk profile and write up where I'm overweight or underweight and why it matters."
Multi-Account Net Position Summary — "Write a year-end AssetMark report covering total net position, allocation by model and asset class, performance vs. benchmark, fees paid, and net contributions. Include a section on the five most important takeaways for my next advisor meeting."
5. Why Truthifi?
5.1. Security
Your AssetMark username and password never touch Truthifi's servers. Authentication occurs through AssetMark's aggregator partners (BAA, Plaid, Yodlee), creating a read-only, protocol-enforced connection secured with AES-256 encryption. Claude receives only scoped data tokens, never your AssetMark or eWealthManager credentials. You maintain complete control and can revoke access anytime from your AssetMark portal settings or your Truthifi dashboard.
5.2. Privacy
Your financial data stays under your complete control when using Truthifi. We never store login credentials from AssetMark or any institution. You decide which specific AssetMark accounts Claude can see, with selective per-account permissions. Data is not sold to third parties, and connecting Claude does not grant access to any other AI you have connected using Truthifi.
5.3. Audit Trail
Every MCP data request is logged for Claude transparency. When Claude accesses your AssetMark data, the timestamp and specific data retrieved is recorded automatically. You maintain full visibility into which AssetMark details were accessed and when, with no hidden background queries. Audit logs are available in your Truthifi dashboard.
5.4. Data Quality
AssetMark delivers raw managed-account data through its aggregator partners. Security strings can be inconsistent, model labels vary, and small performance or fee fields can be missing. Truthifi rebuilds that history from multiple aggregation sources, normalizes security names, and stitches the timing so Claude sees a clean, complete AssetMark timeline.
6. About Claude
Claude, built by Anthropic, is a conversational AI especially strong at long-form reasoning, careful explanations, and structured writing — all of which map well to portfolio analysis. The Claude Pro plan ($20/mo) is required to use custom MCP connectors, which is what powers the Truthifi integration. (Free Claude accounts cannot add MCP connectors.)
For AssetMark specifically, Claude is great at multi-step analyses — model-drift reconciliation, fee decision frameworks, year-end managed-account memos. Claude tends to ask clarifying questions, show its work, and produce well-organized output, which suits the kind of decisions AssetMark advisors and clients face: long-term, model-based, and rooted in how the managed portfolio is constructed.
7. About AssetMark
AssetMark is a turnkey asset management platform (TAMP) and RIA platform that lets independent financial advisors outsource portfolio construction, trading, and back-office operations. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Concord, California, AssetMark serves both sides of the relationship: the advisors who build model-based portfolios on the platform, and the clients whose households hold those professionally managed accounts and log in to view them.
The platform is large. AssetMark reported over $160 billion in platform assets as of December 31, 2025, serving more than 10,000 financial advisors and over 300,000 investor households. Its parent is AssetMark Financial Holdings. In a 2024 strategic alliance, AssetMark acquired roughly $12 billion in assets from Morningstar Wealth's TAMP business, deepening its position in the advisor-outsourcing market. Advisors and clients access their managed accounts through the eWealthManager and InvestorPortal platforms, with third-party read-only access brokered through aggregation partners.

8. Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to connect my AssetMark account using Truthifi?
Yes. Your AssetMark login happens on AssetMark's own authentication flow through the aggregator handoff (BAA, Plaid, or Yodlee). Your username, password, and MFA codes never pass through Truthifi's servers. Claude receives only a scoped, read-only data token — it cannot move money, place trades, or alter any AssetMark setting. Every data request is logged, and you can revoke access from your AssetMark portal or your Truthifi dashboard at any time. Full details at https://truthifi.com/security.
Is this for advisors or clients?
Both. AssetMark is a platform that serves independent advisors and the clients whose households hold AssetMark-managed accounts. An advisor can connect through Truthifi to analyze managed accounts across the book; a client can connect to understand the portfolio their advisor built. The connections are independent — each side controls its own scope, and neither sees what the other authorized.
What can Truthifi actually do with my AssetMark data?
Truthifi pulls holdings, model allocations, performance, advisory-fee detail, and account metadata from your AssetMark accounts and exposes them to Claude through a read-only MCP connector. Claude can compare allocation to model targets, model fee scenarios, measure performance against benchmarks, and write structured managed-account memos. It cannot move money, place trades, or change AssetMark account settings.
Do I need a paid Claude plan to use this with AssetMark?
Yes. To use Claude with Truthifi, you need a Claude Pro subscription at $20/mo or higher. Custom MCP connectors — the mechanism Truthifi uses — are gated to paid Claude plans. Free Claude accounts cannot add the AssetMark integration.
Where is my AssetMark data stored?
Your holdings and performance data is fetched on demand from AssetMark's aggregator feeds via Truthifi, used during the active Claude conversation, and not retained in Claude memory between sessions. Truthifi caches a normalized history so Claude has consistent context, and you can clear it from your dashboard at any time.
How do I disconnect Claude from Truthifi?
To disconnect Claude from Truthifi, open Settings → Connectors → find Truthifi → Disconnect. You can also revoke access from your AssetMark portal, or remove the institution entirely from your Truthifi dashboard. Disconnecting Claude does not affect any other AI you have connected using Truthifi.
How does Truthifi compare to other options for AssetMark?
Feature | Truthifi + Claude | Manual report export | No Connection |
|---|---|---|---|
Live holdings | Live at query time | Manual export per session | Not available |
Read-only access | Protocol-enforced | Full credentials needed | N/A |
Credential storage | Never stored | Stored by tool | N/A |
Multi-account view | All AssetMark accounts unified | One at a time | N/A |
Security cleanup | Normalized | Raw aggregator strings | N/A |
Long-form analysis | Native to Claude | Manual writeup | N/A |
History depth | Rebuilt from multiple sources | What the portal exports | N/A |
What about my financial advisor?
Claude does not replace your AssetMark advisor. Your advisor is responsible for building the portfolios, setting models, money movement, and tax and planning strategy. Claude — with read-only AssetMark data using Truthifi — helps you prepare for advisor meetings, ask better questions, and understand what is happening in between reviews.
What AssetMark account types does Truthifi support?
Truthifi supports AssetMark advisor-managed portfolios, TAMP accounts, separately managed accounts (SMAs), unified managed accounts (UMAs), and mutual fund and ETF model portfolios when they appear in the aggregator feed. You can pick which subset to share with Claude.
Can Claude write a year-end managed-account memo using my AssetMark data?
Yes — and this is one of Claude's strengths. Claude can pull a full year of AssetMark activity and produce a structured memo with sections on allocation, performance vs. benchmark, fees, contributions, and model drift, plus recommendations for the next year. Many AssetMark clients run this once before an annual review.
Can Claude compare my AssetMark models to lower-cost alternatives?
Claude can compare your AssetMark advisory fees and underlying expenses to publicly available index-model costs and model the long-run dollar impact. It surfaces the data so you can decide — it does not open accounts elsewhere or change your AssetMark models on your behalf.
Can I connect both Claude and ChatGPT to my AssetMark account?
Yes. Each AI connection using Truthifi is independent. Connecting Claude does not expose your AssetMark data to ChatGPT, and vice versa. You can revoke either at any time without affecting the other.
Does this replace the AssetMark portal?
No. The AssetMark eWealthManager and InvestorPortal platforms remain the system of record, and where your advisor manages the accounts. Claude + Truthifi is for analysis, writing, and decision support.
How is Claude different from ChatGPT for AssetMark analysis?
Claude tends to write longer, more structured analysis and is more willing to show its assumptions and edge cases. ChatGPT tends to be faster and more conversational. Many users keep both connected: ChatGPT for quick lookups ("what's my allocation?"), Claude for deeper work ("write me a memo on my model drift and fees").
Is there a Free Claude path for this?
No. Custom MCP connectors are gated to Claude Pro ($20/mo) or higher. If cost is a blocker, Truthifi also supports free or lower-cost AI clients (including OpenClaw), which you can use instead or alongside.
Who can see my AssetMark data?
Only you, and only Claude during an active conversation where Truthifi tools are enabled. Truthifi does not sell data, does not earn commissions on AssetMark products, and does not share your data with advertisers. AssetMark itself only sees the aggregator's read traffic.
Subject to Claude privacy policy.
Can Claude help with tax planning using my AssetMark data?
Claude can surface AssetMark-related data relevant to tax prep — realized gains and losses, harvestable positions in a tax-managed sleeve, and income distributions across your managed accounts. It is not a tax advisor. Use its output as a prep tool, not as filing advice.
Can Claude analyze the performance of an individual SMA or UMA sleeve?
If your AssetMark separately managed and unified managed accounts appear in the aggregator feed, Claude can read holdings, allocation, and performance at the sleeve level. It can compare a sleeve to its target, flag concentration, and discuss fees. It cannot place trades.
9. MCP Integration Paths
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets Claude talk to external data sources through a structured, read-only interface. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, co-developed MCP, so Claude is one of the most natural homes for an MCP-based managed-account connector. When you connect Claude to AssetMark using Truthifi, you are using a Truthifi MCP server — infrastructure that translates Claude's natural-language requests into safe, scoped MCP API calls against your live AssetMark data.
Truthifi runs MCP servers across finance: MCP banking, MCP investment, MCP brokerage, MCP crypto. Each connector is read-only, protocol-enforced, and audit-logged. For AssetMark, the MCP investment integration covers advisor-managed portfolios, SMAs, UMAs, and model portfolios across both the advisor and client views.
For developers, Truthifi's MCP API is documented for custom MCP integration work — building dashboards, internal tools, or routing AssetMark data into other MCP-aware clients. The same security model applies: no credentials, read-only scopes, full audit trail. A TAMP/RIA platform like AssetMark (with multiple aggregator paths) is a particularly good real-world test of any MCP investment stack.
