How to Connect Claude to Your Shareworks by Morgan Stanley Account Using Truthifi

Searching for "Claude Shareworks by Morgan Stanley"? You're in the right place. Shareworks by Morgan Stanley is where equity compensation lives for employees of public and private companies — RSU grant schedules, stock option exercise windows, ESPP enrollment, performance share units, and for private-company employees, the cap table that determines what your equity is worth at exit. Until now, getting "Claude for Shareworks" meant exporting a grant statement, pasting it into Claude, and hoping the vesting math and option spreads held up through the conversation.

Truthifi changes that. With a Claude Shareworks by Morgan Stanley connection using Truthifi, Claude can see your live Shareworks equity data through an Anthropic-supported MCP custom connector — active grants, vesting schedules, strike prices, exercise windows, and ESPP details. Truthifi normalizes your grant history on connection, reconciles vesting milestones, and stitches multi-grant data into one clean timeline. The connector is read-only, never stores your Shareworks credentials, and cannot exercise options, sell shares, or change anything in your account.

This guide walks you through setup (about 5 minutes), explains what Truthifi allows and blocks with your Shareworks data, and shows the kinds of long-form equity-compensation analyses Claude handles especially well.

Before you begin, you'll need:

  • A paid individual Claude subscription (Pro or Max). Custom connectors are only available on paid individual plans. Free accounts cannot add custom connectors.

  • A Truthifi account with at least one linked financial institution.

2. What You Need

  • Active Shareworks by Morgan Stanley account with web portal or mobile access enabled

  • Claude Pro plan ($20/mo) — required for custom MCP connectors

  • Your Shareworks portal login credentials ready for the aggregator handoff

  • Free Truthifi account at truthifi.com

  • About 5 minutes for first-time setup

  • Want to try Perplexity instead? See /connect/perplexity-shareworks

  4. Enable Truthifi when needed. In any new chat, click +Integrations → toggle Truthifi on. You may need to re-enable Truthifi in some new conversations if it isn't active by default.

Your Shareworks account is now linked to Claude for live, read-only equity-compensation analysis.

4. Example Prompts for Claude

  • Long-Form RSU Vesting Memo — "Pull all my active RSU grants in Shareworks. Write a 1,500-word memo covering my vesting schedule by grant and by calendar quarter for the next 36 months, the estimated gross income at each vesting event, the supplemental tax withholding I should expect, and the recommended questions to bring to my equity-comp advisor."

  • ISO Exercise Decision Framework — "Review my vested ISO grants in Shareworks. Build a structured decision framework comparing three paths: (1) exercise now and hold for qualifying disposition, (2) exercise now and sell immediately (disqualifying), (3) hold and exercise later. For each path, model the AMT exposure, the regular income tax, and the long-term capital gain if applicable. Identify the path with the lowest all-in tax for my estimated income bracket."

  • Total Equity Compensation Picture — "Aggregate my entire Shareworks equity position — vested RSUs, unvested RSUs, vested ISOs, unvested ISOs, NSOs, ESPP, and PSUs. Write a structured summary showing the current value of each bucket, the vesting timeline for unvested awards, and my total gross equity compensation value at today's price."

  • Concentration Risk Analysis — "Using my Shareworks equity position and any estimate of my total net worth I provide, calculate what percentage of my wealth is concentrated in my employer's stock. Write an analysis covering the risk of this concentration, the options available to manage it (diversification, 10b5-1 plan, options collars), and the questions I should bring to a financial advisor."

  • ESPP Deep Dive — "Review my current Shareworks ESPP enrollment. Explain the offering period, contribution amount, purchase price discount, and the tax treatment of a qualifying versus disqualifying disposition. Model the effective annual return on my ESPP contributions and flag the optimal holding period."

  • Performance Share Units Review — "List my PSU grants in Shareworks. Explain the performance metrics attached to each grant, the threshold, target, and maximum payout ranges, and the probability-weighted expected value if I assume threshold, target, and maximum outcomes. Write a summary I could use to value this component of my compensation."

  • Post-Departure Option Window — "Explain the exercise window for my Shareworks stock options if I were to leave my employer today. Identify which grants expire earliest post-departure, what it would cost to exercise them, and the tax implications of each grant type. Write a clear decision memo I could use to brief a CPA."

  • Year-End Equity Tax Planning Memo — "Generate a year-end equity tax planning memo using my Shareworks data. Cover RSU vesting events for the current year and their income recognition, any options exercised, ESPP purchase and holding periods, estimated supplemental withholding versus actual tax liability, and a checklist of year-end actions."

5. Why Truthifi?

5.1. Security

Your Shareworks username and password never touch Truthifi's servers. Authentication occurs directly through Shareworks's aggregator handoff (BAA, Plaid, or Yodlee), creating a read-only, protocol-enforced connection secured with AES-256 encryption. Claude receives only scoped data tokens, never your Shareworks portal credentials. You maintain complete control and can revoke access anytime from your Shareworks portal settings or your Truthifi dashboard.

5.2. Privacy

Your financial data stays under your complete control when using Truthifi. We never store login credentials from Shareworks by Morgan Stanley or any institution. You decide which specific grants or accounts Claude can see. Data is not sold to third parties, and connecting Claude does not grant access to any other AI you have connected through Truthifi.

5.3. Audit Trail

Every MCP data request is logged for Claude transparency. When Claude accesses your Shareworks data, the timestamp and specific data retrieved are recorded automatically. You maintain full visibility into which equity details were accessed and when. Audit logs are available in your Truthifi dashboard.

5.4. Data Quality

When Shareworks delivers raw equity data through its aggregator partners, grant records, vesting milestones, and tax-lot fields can be inconsistent across multiple tranches. Truthifi rebuilds that history from multiple aggregation sources, normalizes grant and security records, and resolves timing mismatches between grant dates and vesting events. The result: Claude works with clean, dependable Shareworks data, not raw aggregator output.

6. About Claude

Claude, built by Anthropic, is a conversational AI especially strong at long-form reasoning, careful explanations, and structured writing — all of which map well to equity-compensation planning. The Claude Pro plan ($20/mo) is required to use custom MCP connectors. Free Claude accounts cannot add MCP connectors.

For Shareworks specifically, Claude is great at multi-step analyses — ISO exercise decision frameworks, concentration-risk reports, year-end equity tax memos, and post-departure option window analyses. Claude tends to show its assumptions, present alternatives, and produce well-organized output, which suits the kind of decisions Shareworks users often face: high-stakes, tax-sensitive, and centered on long-term compensation value.

7. About Shareworks by Morgan Stanley

Shareworks by Morgan Stanley is an equity compensation and stock plan administration platform that serves employees of public and private companies managing RSUs, stock options, ESPPs, PSUs, and ESOPs. Today, Morgan Stanley at Work serves more than 3,400 stock plan clients globally (including Shareworks and E*TRADE Corporate Services) as of July 2024. Shareworks is particularly common at technology companies, pre-IPO startups, and large public corporations that need a global stock plan administration solution. In 2025, Morgan Stanley opened AI agent access to the Shareworks and Equity Edge platforms. Third-party read-only access is brokered through BAA, Plaid, and Yodlee.

It cannot exercise options, sell shares, or change anything on the Shareworks side.

What about my financial advisor or equity-comp specialist?

Your advisor delivers tailored guidance on exercise timing, tax strategy, and diversification. Claude — with read-only Shareworks data using Truthifi — helps you prepare for those meetings, draft questions, and understand your equity position in depth so you arrive as a better-informed client.

What Shareworks account types does Truthifi support?

Truthifi supports Shareworks RSU grants, stock options (ISO/NSO), ESPP accounts, PSUs, and ESOP positions where they appear in the aggregator feed. You can pick which subset to share with Claude.

Can Claude write a year-end equity tax memo using my Shareworks data?

Yes — and this is one of Claude's strengths. Claude can pull your Shareworks grant data and produce a structured memo covering RSU vesting events for the year, income recognized, options exercised, supplemental withholding versus estimated tax, and year-end action checklist. Many equity recipients run this once a year ahead of a CPA meeting.

Can Claude model an ISO exercise decision?

Yes. Claude can pull your vested ISO grants from Shareworks, model the AMT exposure for exercising in the current year versus deferring, compare that to disqualifying-disposition treatment, and write a structured framework showing the all-in tax cost for each path. It is not a tax advisor — confirm the final numbers with a CPA before acting.

Can I connect both Claude and ChatGPT to my Shareworks account?

Yes. Each AI connection using Truthifi is independent. You can revoke either at any time without affecting the other.

Does this replace Shareworks itself?

No. Shareworks remains the system of record for your equity — the place where grants live, exercises happen, and ESPP purchases are processed. Claude + Truthifi is for analysis, writing, and decision support.

How is Claude different from ChatGPT for Shareworks analysis?

Claude tends to write longer, more structured analysis and is more willing to show its assumptions and present alternatives — well-suited for ISO exercise frameworks, concentration-risk reports, and post-departure option analyses. ChatGPT tends to be faster and more conversational. Many users keep both.

Can Claude help with tax planning using my Shareworks data?

Claude can surface Shareworks data relevant to equity tax planning — RSU vesting income, ISO AMT inputs, NSO ordinary income at exercise, ESPP qualifying and disqualifying dispositions. It is not a tax advisor. Equity compensation taxation is nuanced — pair its output with a qualified CPA, especially for large grant events or ISO exercises.

Is there a Free Claude path for this?

No. Custom MCP connectors are gated to Claude Pro ($20/mo) or higher. If cost is a concern, Truthifi also supports free clients (including OpenClaw) that you can use instead or alongside.

Who can see my Shareworks data?

Only you, and only Claude during an active conversation where Truthifi tools are enabled. Truthifi does not sell data, does not earn commissions on Shareworks products, and does not share your data with advertisers.

Subject to Claude privacy policy.

9. MCP Integration Paths

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets Claude talk to external data sources through a structured, read-only interface. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, co-developed MCP, making Claude one of the most natural homes for an MCP-based equity connector. When you connect Claude to Shareworks by Morgan Stanley using Truthifi, you are using a Truthifi MCP server — infrastructure that translates Claude's natural-language requests into safe, scoped MCP API calls against your live Shareworks data.

Truthifi runs MCP servers across finance: MCP banking, MCP investment, MCP brokerage, MCP crypto. Each connector is read-only, protocol-enforced, and audit-logged. For Shareworks, the MCP investment integration covers RSU grants, stock options, ESPP accounts, PSUs, and cap table positions.

For developers, Truthifi's MCP API is documented for custom MCP integration work — building equity dashboards, internal tools, or pipelines that route Shareworks grant data into other MCP-aware clients. An equity compensation platform like Shareworks by Morgan Stanley — with multi-grant, multi-type data across three aggregator paths — is a useful real-world test of any MCP investment stack.

Informational only. Not financial advice. Equity compensation is complex and has significant tax implications; consult a qualified financial advisor or CPA before making decisions. Truthifi is an independent platform and is not affiliated with Shareworks by Morgan Stanley or Morgan Stanley. This guide reflects current product functionality as of June 2026.
