Meta Muse connectors: how to connect your accounts with Truthifi

By Scott Blandford, Founder & CEO, Truthifi · Reviewed by the Truthifi Team · Last updated October 5, 2026

Meta Muse connectors let Meta's personal AI agent work with apps you choose, at the access level you set, according to Meta's Introducing Muse post (2026). We built Truthifi as the way to connect Meta Muse to your bank and brokerage accounts. Because Meta doesn't review custom connectors, Truthifi's own Authorize screen and Truthifi's Settings → Sharing are where you decide what Muse can read. Meta's materials don't describe a built-in route from Meta Muse to those accounts, so without a connector a money question is likely to get a general answer rather than one about you. Our Meta Muse for finance hub collects Truthifi's guides for Muse.

You connect Muse to Truthifi by asking it to, then sign in only on Truthifi's own page and click Authorize. There's no form to fill in. Meta's help on Muse and connectors (2026) says that for a service not already in Muse's Connector list, you ask Muse to create a custom connector, which is the route this guide follows.

One term before the steps ahead: MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is how Truthifi's tools reach an assistant like Muse. Meta's help doesn't mention MCP, so the Meta Muse MCP steps below rest on Truthifi's own test rather than on Meta's documentation.

  1. Ask Muse to create a Truthifi connector. In Muse, type: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." That one request asks Muse to build a Meta Muse custom connector for Truthifi. In Truthifi's test on muse.ai on the web, Muse found Truthifi's server from this prompt alone. That was a single run on one surface, not a broad trial, so treat the short prompt as a first attempt and keep the fallback ready. If Muse can't find Truthifi, add the address: "…using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

  2. Sign in and click Authorize. Muse sets up the connection. When Truthifi's sign-in appears, check that it's Truthifi's own sign-in page before you type anything, then sign in with your own Truthifi login and click Authorize. Keep your Truthifi password out of the Muse chat. Truthifi doesn't ask for your bank password in your assistant, so don't type it there.

  3. Test the connection. Ask Muse "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" That calls get_accounts, which costs 1 credit as of October 2026. Then ask "What plan am I on and how many credits have I used today?" That calls get_subscription_info, which shows your plan, credits used and left, and which tools you can use, and it costs nothing.

Before you start

You need three things, plus one address to keep handy. The three are access to Muse in your region, a Truthifi account with your own login, and at least one account already linked in Truthifi. Trying it costs nothing on the Truthifi side: connecting your own AI assistant works on every current consumer plan, including the free ones.

  • Muse. As of October 2026, Muse is rolling out in the US on iOS, Android and muse.ai. According to Meta, it's in limited testing and not yet available in all locations. It's free with a usage limit, and Meta's Power and Maximum plans add more weekly usage. Subscribers need a Meta account and must be 18 or the age of majority where they live.

  • A Truthifi account and your own login. Plans differ in credits and tools, which Truthifi pricing sets out. Logins are individual, so a family member or a colleague at your firm who wants the same setup would sign up for a login of their own.

  • A linked account. If you have none yet, ask Muse to "connect a new account with Truthifi". Truthifi's connect_account tool replies with a link to Truthifi's page for connecting a new bank or brokerage account; it changes nothing by itself and costs no credits. You link bank and brokerage accounts on Truthifi's page, not in the chat. Check your bank or broker's connection status first.

The address is Truthifi's MCP server, https://api.truthifi.com/mcp. You'll only need it if Muse can't find Truthifi from the prompt alone.

How to connect Meta Muse to your bank account in three steps

Ask Muse to connect, sign in on Truthifi's own page and click Authorize. Then test with two questions. Your bank and brokerage accounts reach Muse through Truthifi, so the same three steps cover the accounts you've linked.

Step 1: Ask Muse to create a Truthifi connector

In Muse, type: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." That one request asks Muse to build a Meta Muse custom connector for Truthifi. If Muse can't find Truthifi, add the address: "…using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

According to Meta's connectors help (2026), Meta doesn't review custom connectors or how they use your information, which is why we treat the screen in step 2 as your checkpoint.

Step 2: Sign in and click Authorize

Muse sets up the connection, then hands you to Truthifi's sign-in. Confirm it's Truthifi's own page before you type, and use your own Truthifi login. Neither your Truthifi password nor your bank password belongs in the Muse chat.

When Truthifi's Authorize screen appears, it lists what the assistant can read:

  • accounts, advisors and groups

  • balances

  • holdings, transactions and fees

  • performance, Truthifi Score and findings

  • composition, concentrations and market cap

  • spending by category

  • scan status

It also lists two kinds of change: managing assets and liabilities you track by hand, and refreshing a connection's data on demand, which Truthifi runs as a portfolio scan. If anything on that list isn't what you expected, click Cancel; otherwise click Authorize.

After you click Authorize, your assistant is given a Truthifi sign-in token rather than your password. Access can be revoked any time under Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke.

Step 3: Test the connection

Ask Muse "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" That calls get_accounts, which costs 1 credit as of October 2026. Then ask "What plan am I on and how many credits have I used today?" That calls get_subscription_info, which shows your plan, credits used and left, and which tools you can use, and it costs nothing.

If Muse answers in general terms or says it can't reach Truthifi, repeat the setup prompt with the server address added, or work through the troubleshooting answers in the quick reference.

Ready to try it? Start free (limits apply), link one account on Truthifi's page, and ask Muse for your balances.

Why Truthifi, and not just any data source

Truthifi hands Muse figures it has already cleaned and matched, plus a per-assistant limit on which linked accounts Muse may read. That matters more with Muse than with a chat-only assistant: Muse can keep working on a goal after you close the app, so a mislabeled figure can carry into every later step of that plan. Connecting through Truthifi is the setup we recommend over pasting figures into a chat. Pasted figures are a snapshot of one moment, while Truthifi refreshes the data Muse reads automatically each day, and Truthifi's Settings → Sharing lets you choose which linked accounts Muse sees.

Truthifi brings your linked accounts into one view and checks them for fees, concentration and other issues. Per Truthifi platform data, Truthifi connects to 18,000+ financial institutions through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts. Check the status of your bank or broker at truthifi.com/connections before you link it, and if you want to weigh the aggregators first, read Is it safe to connect your accounts? Truthifi cleans and organizes the data. It labels reinvested dividends correctly, for example, and matches the same security across accounts, so Muse works from consistent numbers. Reinvested dividends can be mislabeled because the same cash flow may appear as income in one account's feed and as a new purchase in another, and that kind of mismatch could confuse an assistant reasoning across linked accounts.

Truthifi's access to your bank and brokerage accounts is read-only. Through Truthifi, Muse can't move money, place trades or change anything in those accounts. Inside Truthifi, three tools can make changes: they add or delete assets you track by hand, or refresh your data on demand. In tool terms, create_asset_liability adds one hand-tracked asset or liability. Its instructions tell the assistant to show you a preview and save only after you confirm. delete_asset_liability permanently deletes one, and run_scan refreshes one connection now for 3 credits, with instructions to ask you first.

On the Muse side, Meta sets the privacy terms, not us. Once you connect an assistant, its AI company receives the data Truthifi's tools return and handles it under its own terms. According to Meta (2026), Muse doesn't share your conversations or Secure VM data with its ad systems. You can opt out of training use, and, Meta says, Muse can't see passwords or payment methods you share with it.

Meta also builds in its own checks. According to Meta's announcement (2026), Muse checks with you before sensitive actions, such as sending an email or making a purchase, while a separate Sentinel agent approves anything that reaches the internet. Whether your assistant asks before running a Truthifi tool is up to the assistant, not Truthifi. Read what Muse says it's about to do before you confirm one of the three tools above.

After you connect

Once Muse is connected, three things matter: what to ask, where the connection works, and how to undo it. Ask for facts and start each question with "Using Truthifi". Truthifi tested this connection on muse.ai on the web, and revoking in Truthifi cuts Muse off even if Muse still lists the connector.

What to ask once you're connected

Each of the three questions below works on every current Truthifi consumer plan and, as of October 2026, costs 1 credit per call. Together, they cover your asset mix, your spending pattern and your larger transactions.

Ask your AI:

  • "Using Truthifi, how is my portfolio split by asset class?"

  • "Using Truthifi, what did I spend on groceries and dining each month this year?"

  • "Using Truthifi, list my transactions over $200 last month."

For more neutral questions, see how to ask Meta Muse about your portfolio and the prompt gallery.

Muse can turn a goal into a plan and keep working on it after you close the app. If that goal means checking your spending each week, each check Muse runs is a Truthifi tool call, so plan your credits with that in mind. As of October 2026, most tools cost 1 credit per call, get_dated_holdings costs 2 and run_scan costs 3. Some tools need Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher, and get_fees needs Connect Max, Monitoring or higher; Truthifi pricing lists which, and asking "what plan am I on?" shows the tools your plan includes. Each assistant you connect draws on the same plan credits. Truthifi doesn't control how Muse handles approvals for its data-changing tools, so keep those out of goals Muse runs on its own.

Muse on the web and on mobile

Truthifi's test ran on muse.ai on the web. Muse also runs in the iOS and Android apps, and you can message it in WhatsApp. Truthifi's test covered muse.ai only, not whether a connection carries across Muse's other surfaces. If Muse on your phone can't reach Truthifi, run the setup prompt there as well, and see the quick reference if it stalls; treat each surface as its own setup until Truthifi confirms otherwise.

Advisory firms

Meta describes Muse as a personal agent and, as of October 2026, documents no firm or team product, so this guide doesn't cover a firm setup. If you work at an advisory firm, a firm plan of a tier-1 assistant is the better fit for your practice: ChatGPT Business/Enterprise, Claude Team/Enterprise, Perplexity Enterprise or Grok Business/Enterprise, per each assistant's guide. Your clients can still connect their own Truthifi login to their own Muse. If a client asks you about it, the points worth sharing are the ones above: access to their bank and brokerage accounts is read-only, Truthifi's Settings → Sharing limits what Muse sees, and revoking in Truthifi cuts Muse off. For background on the aggregators, point them to Is it safe to connect your accounts?

If something goes wrong

  • No Truthifi sign-in appears. Repeat the setup prompt with Truthifi's server address added. Don't paste a password into the chat, whatever Muse suggests. If it still fails, email support@truthifi.com and say whether you were on the web or in the app.

  • A tool returns a limit message. You've used your Truthifi credits for now. Daily and monthly credits reset at set times. Ask "what plan am I on?" to see when.

  • A tool says it isn't available. That tool needs a higher Truthifi plan. Asking "what plan am I on?" lists the tools your plan includes.

  • Muse stops in the middle of the week. You've most likely reached Muse's free usage limit or your weekly plan allowance. That's a Meta limit, not a Truthifi one. Wait for it to refresh, or move to Meta's Power or Maximum plan.

To revoke access

In Muse. Meta's help says to disconnect a connector under Settings → Connectors, which stops Muse exchanging data with it. If Truthifi isn't listed there, revoke it in Truthifi. That cuts the assistant off even if the assistant still lists Truthifi.

In Truthifi. Go to Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke and confirm, or use the Dashboard: Agents card → Manage (next to the assistant's name) → Revoke access. If the same assistant appears more than once under Connections → Agents, revoke each entry.

What stays behind. After you revoke, your assistant gets no new data from Truthifi. Anything the assistant already received isn't deleted. According to Meta, information Muse already used may stay in its memories and your conversation history, and you can ask Muse to forget those interactions. What happens to your chat afterwards is up to Muse and your settings there.

Frequently asked questions

Does Muse have a screen to add Truthifi?

Meta doesn't document one. You ask Muse to connect, and it builds the connection as a custom connector, the same route Meta's help describes for any service that isn't already in its Connector list. That's the path this guide follows, starting from the prompt in step 1. Truthifi's own test on muse.ai on the web used this route.

Does a Meta Muse MCP connection need an API key?

No, not on Truthifi's side. Truthifi doesn't offer personal API keys, and you connect by signing in on Truthifi's own page instead. Meta's help notes that setting up a custom connector can involve retrieving API information, so if Muse asks you for a key, stop and check the quick reference before you paste anything.

Can Muse see my bank account?

You can, through Truthifi. Link the bank on Truthifi's page first, then ask Muse to connect. Truthifi connects to 18,000+ financial institutions through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts. Check your bank or broker's status at truthifi.com/connections before you link it.

Is Muse free?

Muse is free with a usage limit, according to Meta. Meta's paid plans, Power and Maximum, add more weekly usage. No Meta page ties custom connectors to a plan, and on the Truthifi side every current consumer plan supports connecting your own AI assistant.

Is the Truthifi side free?

Yes, connecting your own AI assistant works on every current consumer plan, including the free ones. As of October 2026, free plans include 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month. Automatic daily refreshes are free, and an on-demand refresh uses 3 credits. Most other tools use 1 credit per call.

Where can I use Muse?

You can use Muse in the US, on iOS, Android and muse.ai, and you can also message it in WhatsApp. Meta says Muse is in limited testing and isn't available in all locations yet. Truthifi's own test ran on muse.ai on the web.

Can Muse move money or trade through Truthifi?

No, not through Truthifi. Truthifi's access to your bank and brokerage accounts is read-only, so Muse can't move money, place trades or make changes there through it. The exceptions sit inside Truthifi: tools that add or delete assets you track by hand, or refresh your data on demand.

Does Muse ask before acting?

By default, Meta says, Muse won't take many important actions without your approval, and you can change when it asks in Settings; it also keeps an audit trail. For Truthifi's three data-changing tools that's Muse's call, so read Muse's description of each action before you confirm.

Which accounts can Muse see?

Out of the box, your AI assistant can see every account you've linked in Truthifi. You can narrow that for each assistant: go to Settings → Sharing and select the assistant. The setting is per assistant, so Muse can see fewer accounts than another assistant you use.

Does Meta use my data for ads?

Not according to Meta: it says Muse doesn't share your conversations or Secure VM data with its ad systems, and that you can opt out of training use. The data Truthifi's tools return goes to Meta once you connect, and Meta handles it under its own terms, not Truthifi's.

How do I disconnect?

You can disconnect from either side. In Truthifi, go to Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke. For Muse itself, Meta's help directs you to Settings → Connectors to disconnect a connector. Revoking in Truthifi cuts the assistant off, even if the assistant still lists Truthifi, so start there if you want to be sure.

Can I use Muse for my advisory firm?

Not as a firm tool. Meta describes Muse as a personal agent and, as of October 2026, documents no firm product, so we can't point to a firm setup for it. For a firm, use a firm plan of a tier-1 assistant instead: ChatGPT Business/Enterprise, Claude Team/Enterprise, Perplexity Enterprise or Grok Business/Enterprise, following each assistant's own setup guide.

Does disconnecting erase what Muse learned?

Not necessarily: revoking stops new data, but it doesn't delete what the assistant already received. Meta says information Muse already used may stay in its memories and your conversation history, and that you can ask Muse to forget those interactions.

Does Meta review a Meta Muse custom connector like Truthifi?

No, Meta says it doesn't review custom connectors or how they use your information. That's why the Truthifi Authorize screen matters: before you click Authorize, check what it lists the assistant can read and the two kinds of change it allows.

Your next step. Start free (limits apply), link one bank or brokerage account on Truthifi's page, then type the step 1 prompt into Muse and ask for your balances. On the Truthifi side, that balance check costs 1 credit.

How we checked this. The Muse details here come from Meta's own announcement and help pages (linked above); Truthifi has tested its connection with Muse on muse.ai on the web. Because Meta still calls Muse a limited test, the custom-connector flow may well change, so we plan to re-run our test whenever Meta updates those help pages. If Meta adds Truthifi to Muse's Connector list, step 1 could shrink to picking it from that list rather than typing a request. Before you hand Muse a recurring goal, do a quick sum: on a free plan's 25 monthly credits, a weekly 1-credit balance check uses four or five a month, while a weekly run_scan at 3 credits would use twelve to fifteen.

Once you're connected, here's where to go next.

Prefer an answer from inside Truthifi? The built-in Truthifi AI agent is included in Monitoring and Monitoring Plus+.
