Meta Muse with Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab: one view across three custodians

By Scott Blandford, Founder & CEO, Truthifi · Reviewed by the Truthifi Team · Published September 17, 2026

Long-term savings often end up in more than one place. A workplace plan sits at one firm, an IRA at another, a taxable brokerage account at a third. Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab each show you their own slice, in their own layout, with no single view combining them. Meta Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, can't see any of them on its own.

Truthifi puts your linked accounts in one view and checks them for fees, concentration and other issues. Connect Muse to your Truthifi account and your Meta Muse portfolio questions can cover all three custodians at once, in plain language.

In short: to connect Meta Muse to Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab, link those accounts in Truthifi, ask Muse to connect to your Truthifi account, sign in on Truthifi's page and click Authorize. Then ask factual questions about totals, asset mix, single-stock exposure and fees.

Before you start

You need three things: Muse, a Truthifi account under your own login, and a Truthifi plan that covers the questions you care about. Balances, asset mix and holdings work on every current consumer plan. Your Truthifi Score, performance and advisor details need Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher. Fee analysis needs Connect Max, Monitoring or higher.

Muse is rolling out in the US on iOS, Android and muse.ai, according to Meta's launch post (2026). There's a free tier with a usage limit, and paid plans add more weekly usage. According to Meta's subscription help page (2026), Muse is in limited testing and isn't available in all locations yet.

On the Truthifi side, connecting your own AI assistant works on every current consumer plan, including the free ones, so you can start free (limits apply). Each person uses their own login. If your partner holds their own IRA, they connect it to their own Truthifi account rather than sharing yours.

Which membership fits? Truthifi has two. Truthifi Connect is the lighter one, built for using Truthifi with your own AI assistant, and comes as Connect Explore, Connect Pro or Connect Max. Truthifi Monitoring is the Truthifi web app with monitoring: Free Checkup, Monitoring and Monitoring Plus+. If Muse is where you'll ask most questions, compare the Connect plans. You can link multiple accounts, though the number of connections and AI-assistant credits available depend on your plan. As of October 2026, Connect Explore is free, Connect Pro costs $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year, and Connect Max costs $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year. Check pricing for current connection limits and credit allowances.

How safe it is to connect Meta Muse to your brokerage

Muse doesn't log in to Fidelity, Vanguard or Schwab. It reads only what Truthifi returns, and only after you approve the connection on Truthifi's own Authorize screen. Truthifi connects to your bank and brokerage accounts read-only. Moving money, placing trades and changing anything in those accounts are out of your assistant's reach. Inside Truthifi, a few tools can make changes: they add or delete assets you track by hand, or refresh your data on demand.

Your custodian logins stay out of the chat, and that is the point: your bank or broker sign-in doesn't live inside a conversation. You sign in to your bank or broker through our connection partner (Plaid, Yodlee or By All Accounts), not through Truthifi or your AI assistant, and Truthifi doesn't see or store your bank username or password. What your AI assistant receives is a sign-in token from Truthifi, not your password. Your data stays encrypted in transit and at rest. For a broader look at linking accounts through an aggregator, see is it safe to connect your accounts?

Two limits sit on Muse's side. What Truthifi's tools return goes to Meta, which handles it under its own terms. And approvals are Muse's call: by Meta's account, Muse won't take many important actions without your approval by default, and you can change when it asks in Settings. Whether your assistant asks before running a Truthifi tool depends on the assistant, not on Truthifi, and Truthifi's test did not record whether Muse asks before running the tools that change data. Before Muse takes an action, check what it's about to do, since you can set when it asks for approval in Settings.

Why connect through Truthifi

Truthifi does more than collect balances. It cleans the records from each custodian and checks them, so Muse answers from numbers that already line up across Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab. Per Truthifi platform data (2026), you can link any of 18,000+ financial institutions to Truthifi through Plaid, Yodlee and By All Accounts. See your bank or broker's connection status at truthifi.com/connections before you link it.

Three firms can report the same fund in different ways, and that's where cleaning matters. Truthifi labels reinvested dividends and matches the same security across accounts, so your assistant works from consistent numbers. It builds your history from the transactions each firm makes available, which is why one account may go back further than another.

The checks run on top. Truthifi checks your accounts for 130+ kinds of issues, and its findings show the financial health issues behind your Truthifi Score. With Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher, it also flags fees that look above average and funds whose performance ranks low against similar funds.

Truthifi vs. copying numbers into Muse

Copying figures from each site into Muse works for a one-off question, and the answer is only as current as your copy. Once connected, you can ask Muse about your real holdings, spending and allocation in plain language.

Setup: five steps

Five steps cover setup, with no settings screen to hunt for. According to Meta's help page on connectors (2026), you can ask Muse to create a custom connector for a service it doesn't list, and that is the route here. Truthifi's connector speaks MCP, the Model Context Protocol, which is the standard an AI assistant uses to call an outside service's tools.

  1. Link your accounts in Truthifi. Linking your bank and brokerage accounts is done on Truthifi's page rather than in the chat. If you add an account later, Muse can help once it's connected: ask it to "connect a new account with Truthifi" and it returns a link to Truthifi's page, which changes nothing by itself and costs no credits.

  2. Ask Muse to connect. Open Muse and ask: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." If Muse can't find it, add the address: "...using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

  3. Sign in and authorize. When Truthifi's sign-in appears, sign in only on Truthifi's own sign-in page and click Authorize. Don't type your Truthifi password into the Muse chat. On that screen for this setup, Truthifi lists what the assistant can read across your Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab accounts, plus two kinds of change it can make: managing assets and liabilities you track by hand, and running an on-demand refresh (what Truthifi calls a portfolio scan).

  4. Choose which accounts Muse sees. By default, your AI assistant can see all the accounts you've linked in Truthifi. To limit which accounts an assistant sees, select it under Settings → Sharing.

  5. Check it works. Ask "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" and check that your Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab accounts come back. A second question, "What plan am I on and how many credits have I used today?", shows your plan, credits used and left, and the tools you can use, without spending a credit.

Step 1: Link your accounts in Truthifi

Linking your bank and brokerage accounts is done on Truthifi's page rather than in the chat. If you add an account later, Muse can help once it's connected: ask it to "connect a new account with Truthifi" and it returns a link to Truthifi's page, which changes nothing by itself and costs no credits.

Step 2: Ask Muse to connect

Open Muse and ask: "Please connect to my Truthifi account via Truthifi MCP." If Muse can't find it, add the address: "...using Truthifi's MCP server at https://api.truthifi.com/mcp."

Step 3: Sign in and authorize

When Truthifi's sign-in appears, sign in only on Truthifi's own sign-in page and click Authorize. Don't type your Truthifi password into the Muse chat. On that screen for this setup, Truthifi lists what the assistant can read across your Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab accounts, plus two kinds of change it can make: managing assets and liabilities you track by hand, and running an on-demand refresh (what Truthifi calls a portfolio scan).

Step 4: Choose which accounts Muse sees

By default, your AI assistant can see all the accounts you've linked in Truthifi. To limit which accounts an assistant sees, select it under Settings → Sharing.

Step 5: Check it works

Ask "Using Truthifi, what are my balances?" and check that your Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab accounts come back. A second question, "What plan am I on and how many credits have I used today?", shows your plan, credits used and left, and the tools you can use, without spending a credit.

Truthifi has tested this three-custodian connection with Muse. For the bigger picture of using Muse with your money, see the Meta Muse finance hub.

Supported brokerages

Each custodian has a status page: Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab. Check each of the three before you link it, because statuses change. Each firm also has its own Muse page: the Meta Muse Fidelity guide, the Meta Muse Vanguard guide and the Meta Muse Schwab guide. Anything that won't link can be added by hand.

How to disconnect

Disconnecting has two sides. In Truthifi, go to Connections → Agents → ⋯ → Revoke, then confirm. That cuts the assistant off even if the assistant still lists Truthifi. On the Muse side, Meta's help points to Settings → Connectors to disconnect a connector.

Revoking stops new data, not old. It doesn't delete what Muse already received, and Meta's connector help (2026) says information Muse already used may stay in its memories and your conversation history. You can ask Muse to forget it. Asking support@truthifi.com to delete your data also ends MCP access and revokes outstanding tokens.

How Truthifi's MCP connection works

The connection has two halves, and Muse only touches the second: your custodians feed Truthifi through its connection partners. Truthifi then answers Muse's tool calls through its MCP server, using only the signed-in person's own data and only after you've signed in and clicked Authorize.

The first half runs on a schedule. Truthifi refreshes your data automatically once a day, when the connection to your bank or broker is working, and those automatic refreshes don't use your AI assistant credits.

The second half runs when you ask. Most Truthifi data tools let Muse name the fields it wants back, and many can be limited to chosen accounts, so a question about your Vanguard IRA can stay about your Vanguard IRA.

That's the half that spends your credits. A three-custodian balance check is one call, at 1 credit. A holdings snapshot costs 2, and a fresh pull from one custodian costs 3. As of October 2026, Connect Pro gives your assistant 20 credits a day and 75 a month, likely enough for a weekly round of cross-custodian questions. The free plans give 5 a day and 25 a month, and Connect Max and Monitoring Plus+ give 75 a day. Every assistant you connect draws on the same allowance, and it resets daily and monthly.

Example questions

Three questions tend to come up for people with money at more than one firm. How much is there in total? What share sits in stocks, bonds and cash once every account is counted? Do funds at two different firms hold many of the same companies? By hand, each usually means three logins and a spreadsheet. With Truthifi linked, it's AI portfolio analysis on your own records, one question at a time.

On every current consumer plan, Muse can report your asset mix by asset class, sector, industry and country, and how far back each account's data goes. Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher adds your exposure to single stocks, including through funds, your return, income and gain or loss over a date range, and details on the financial advisors linked to your accounts. Advisor details come from FINRA and SEC records and are updated periodically. Fees on each account, by type, need Connect Max, Monitoring or higher.

Questions to try, each starting with "Using Truthifi":

  1. "What's my total balance at Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab, by account?"

  2. "What was each account's opening and closing balance this year?"

  3. "What dividends and capital gains have my funds paid over the last two years?"

  4. "Which single stocks am I most exposed to, counting what I hold through funds?"

Ask your AI:

  • "Using Truthifi, what are my balances across all my accounts?"

  • "Using Truthifi, how much am I paying in fees, by account?"

  • "Using Truthifi, what changed in my Truthifi score over the last six months?"

Ask Muse to line up the Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab figures side by side, then decide what to do with the answers.

For a fuller picture in one request, Truthifi's ready-made prompts help. "Portfolio health check" reads your Truthifi Score trend, open findings and fees, with full results on Connect Max, Monitoring or higher. "Schedule of investments" lists every position across your three custodians, by account, with cost, value and gain. No account data moves until Muse runs the tools behind a prompt.

Where this is heading: AI agents and your finances

Agents like Muse are meant to do more than answer a question once; they can keep working on a goal after you close the app. A monthly summary of your balances by account is an easy first goal: it uses one tool, and any current consumer plan can run it. Each run still spends Truthifi credits and follows your plan's tool limits, so the plan you pick sets what a recurring goal can do.

Eleven Truthifi tools need Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher, and the fee tool needs Connect Max, Monitoring or higher. On Meta's side, the launch post (2026) describes checks before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase. It also describes a separate Sentinel agent that must approve anything reaching the internet, and an audit trail of what Muse has done and plans to do. Meta documents custom connectors created by asking Muse but doesn't mention MCP specifically, so the flow may change as Meta formalizes connectors.

Meta Muse vs. the built-in Truthifi AI agent

They're separate products. The built-in Truthifi AI agent is included in Monitoring and Monitoring Plus+ but not in Truthifi Connect, while any current consumer plan lets you connect your own assistant. Muse is the better fit when you want an agent that also handles other tasks in your life, with your Truthifi data in the same place. For anyone juggling accounts across Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab, connecting Muse through Truthifi can be a worthwhile step toward seeing the whole picture in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Meta Muse as a financial advisor for my real accounts?

Here, Muse can't act as an advisor for your Fidelity, Vanguard or Schwab holdings. It reports the facts Truthifi returns, such as totals, holdings, fees and performance, but those are records, not recommendations. Truthifi is not an investment adviser and doesn't give investment, tax or legal advice.

How do I connect Meta Muse to Fidelity, Vanguard or Schwab?

Through Truthifi, not directly. Check each custodian's status at truthifi.com/connections, link the accounts on Truthifi's page, then ask Muse to connect to your Truthifi account, sign in on Truthifi's own page and click Authorize. Muse reads from Truthifi from then on.

Can one Meta Muse portfolio view cover all three custodians?

Yes, once the accounts are linked. Truthifi brings your linked accounts into one view, so Muse can answer about Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab from one set of data: a total balance by account, say, or an asset mix that counts all three.

Do I type my Fidelity, Vanguard or Schwab password into Muse?

No. Custodian logins for Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab happen on Truthifi's page through its connection partner, not inside the Muse chat. Truthifi doesn't ask for your bank password in your assistant, so if anything in Muse asks for one, don't type it there and treat the request as a red flag.

Can Muse see the fees I pay at each custodian?

Yes, on Connect Max, Monitoring or higher, where Muse shows the fees on each Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab account, broken out by type, with all three custodians in one list. Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher separately flags fees that look above average, without the full per-account breakdown.

Can I keep some of my accounts out of Muse's view?

Yes. Muse starts out seeing every Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab account you've linked in Truthifi, but you can narrow that in Settings → Sharing by choosing which accounts Muse sees. Each assistant you connect to Truthifi keeps its own separate selection, so limiting Muse doesn't change what another assistant can see.

How current is the data Muse reads?

As current as Truthifi's last refresh. Truthifi updates your data automatically once a day while the connection to your bank or broker is working. You can ask for a refresh in between. The daily refresh is automatic and free. Asking for one on demand uses 3 credits. If your bank's data connection is down, a refresh won't run.

Can Muse move money between my Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab accounts?

No. Transfers and trades aren't possible through Truthifi at Fidelity, Vanguard or Schwab, because its access to your bank and brokerage accounts is read-only. The only changes Truthifi's tools make happen inside Truthifi itself, such as an on-demand refresh or an asset or liability you track by hand.

What does Muse see when it reads my holdings?

More than summaries. Results can include individual transactions, holdings and balances. Anything Muse reads this way goes to Meta under Meta's terms.

How many credits do these questions use?

Fewer than you might think for cross-custodian totals: one balance call covers all three firms for 1 credit. Holdings snapshots cost 2 and refreshes cost 3, while nine Truthifi tools are free. On a free plan's 5 daily credits, a holdings snapshot plus one refresh uses the whole day.

Do I need a paid Muse plan?

Not to start. Muse is free with a usage limit, and paid Muse plans add more weekly usage. Truthifi works the same way on its side: connecting your own AI assistant is included in every current consumer plan, including the free ones.

Does Muse store my financial data between conversations?

It can. Meta describes Muse as remembering what matters to you, and you can tell it to forget. According to Meta's help page on subscriptions and help pages on connectors, information Muse already used may stay in its memories and your conversation history even after you disconnect, so ask Muse to forget it if you want it gone.

What if one of my accounts stops updating?

Truthifi's "Account connection check" prompt shows which accounts are linked and whether any have stopped updating; ask Muse to run it. If the service that connects your bank or broker has an outage, a refresh can't run. Truthifi returns an error instead.

Can Muse see my workplace retirement plan?

Yes, if your workplace retirement plan is linked in Truthifi. Once linked, Muse can ask about its holdings, asset mix and balance history alongside your Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab accounts, like any other account. Check your provider's status at truthifi.com/connections before linking, and add anything that won't link by hand.

One view, three custodians, your questions

Three custodians often meant three logins and a spreadsheet. With Truthifi in the middle, they become one set of cleaned, checked records that Muse can read but can't use to move money or trade. Start with a total, then ask what it's made of. The question worth asking next is a comparative one: when the Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab slices sit side by side, which one doesn't look like the other two, and why? That gap, a heavier stock tilt in one IRA or a fee that only shows up at one firm, was hard to spot from three separate logins. Get started with Truthifi

Meta Muse with Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab: one view across three custodians

By Scott Blandford, Founder & CEO, Truthifi · Reviewed by the Truthifi Team · Published September 17, 2026

Long-term savings often end up in more than one place. A workplace plan sits at one firm, an IRA at another, a taxable brokerage account at a third. Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab each show you their own slice, in their own layout, with no single view combining them. Meta Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, can't see any of them on its own.

You need three things: Muse, a Truthifi account under your own login, and a Truthifi plan that covers the questions you care about. Balances, asset mix and holdings work on every current consumer plan. Your Truthifi Score, performance and advisor details need Connect Pro, Monitoring or higher.
